Best offer I got from Apple was $30 to have someone come to my house and exchange the battery. Not even worth considering until they fix the battery drain, then, they probably wont even offer this to me any longer.

Also, turning off icloud does not help , my battery still drains 15-20% while I sleep at night. Turning off wifi does help a little. I am sick of charging my phone 4+ times a day just to keep it charged. My battery is probably more like a 2 year old battery than a 9 month old one...Apple should let us afflicted customers go to AT&T or Verizon, whatever, and get free battery swaps once they fix this battery drain. Any lawyers hanging out in here?

Update. Yesterday I had to charge 4 times. Typical usage was 2.5 tom3.0 hours of use, meaning battery drain stillmmoremthan 30 percent per hour. My only hope is to delete all, reset again as a new phone w/o all the apps. Nsynch only about 3 apps I use the most such as twitter and FB and news apps. See what happens. I am still convinced there are apps that are draining the battery in the new IOS 5. It would be nice if there was a database web site, where ppl could list all their apps, and then check with others to see what they have. Then you could see if there's commonality between ppl having these problems.

ONCE AGAIN THOUGH, WHERE IS APPLE? I hope they say something today (Monday) so we know they have not abbandoned us

After upgrading my phone to 5.0.1 i've had several issues, battery life has been reduced significantly. Reception is horrible now, i live in a remote area and prior to upgrading I was able to talk on the phone from any room in my house, now, unless I'm upstairs in the back of the house, people have trouble hearing me, and vice versa. Also my web browser tends to not be able to load half the time and my mail has started having trouble loading emails. Many messages come in with a message saying "this message not loaded"

HELP, can i revert back to the old operating system?

you can but it will be deleted from here. I have the 3GS and I cant say that I have noticed an issue with the reception, my be model specific. The only issue I have noticed is the WIFI does not seem to shut down when the phone goes into standby. When I hit the home button and while the phone is locked the WIFI is already on. before the update it was not on. it would take anywhere from 4-6 seconds for it to show up. So I wonder if that has the issues with the battery drain?

I am noticing the exact same issues. With no programs running, I am typically losing 15-20% of battery life overnight since the upgrade to 5.0.1. Additionally, I previously had no issues with reception; however, since the upgrade I have had multiple calls dropped mid conversation - despite being stationary. I was already disappointed in the battery life afforded by the iPhone, now it's almost unbearable. My phone is only 2 months old, and I can barely get one days charge out of it with minimal to no use.

For anyone new to the thread be sure to go through these steps to address the battery after updating to iOS 5.0.1:

1. Reset all settings (settings app-> general-> reset)

2. Go through initial setup steps (lang, wifi, siri, enable location, etc) and choose setup as new phone (don't worry your apps, data, contacts, mail will still be there). Do NOT restore from iCloud or iTunes (It can copy back corrupt settings)

3. Turn off system location services timezone and iAd

4. Fully discharge battery (until you get the spinning wheel and it shuts off)

5. Fully recharge battery (overnight if possible)

In my experience this improves the Standby battery drain issue significantly in most cases. It reduces drain from 2-4% or more per hr to 0.5% or less. It has worked for many, many users now. If it does not work after a few try's you may have a real battery or hardware issue and should contact Apple. Good Luck!

I'm experiencing the same as well. I have a 32 GB iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.x running. I had very good battery life. With all push functionality off, i made it easily 3-5 days with the phone. I was laughing at Android users. I updated last night. I really don't know why i did it. Stupid move. After the update i went to sleep. I use the iPhone as an alarm clock as well. It died during the night. Luckily my daughter has a biological clock which is very precise :-) Now during the day the battery life is truly horrible. Afwul, terrible, makes the device unusable. The phone even gets hot in my pocket doing nothing. I switch everything off, no location service, no icloud, no notifications services. I did a hard reset. But despite this it lost 60% in about 5 hours and i'm using it little. Hard reset does not help.

Looking at the problems, it seems pretty random and worldwide. One thing i don't understand. If Apple had tested this update with 100 employees of their own company they would have found this. Ever heard of friendly user tests. It prevents paying customers from becoming unhappy.

I can understand it takes time to find the bug. But please, make an iTunes update that allows roll-back to 4.3.x.
