Upgrade to 7.6 broke my network

I just upgraded my Aiport Extreme to firmware 7.6 and I'm unable to connect to it from any of my Lion or SL Macbooks.

Console tells me:

11-11-11 09:41:02,000 kernel: MacAuthEvent en1 Auth result for: 00:1c:b3:ae:c0:51 No Ack

And in the UI I get a timeout connecting to my network.

I'm now on the wired part of the network on the hunt for the older firmware to downgrade. Really disappointing!

We had this issue as well.

We reverted to firmware 7.5.2 and then reinstalled 7.6 and freshly reset the wireless settings and it seems to work now. Annoying, but at least we are back up and running!

Best of luck!

I upgraded to 7.6.1 yesterday, and It's completely nuts for me. It looses connections as fast as every 5 minutes. I've tried turning it off and on again which did not fix it.

I'm running Airport Utility 6.0 (600.92).

How do I install an older firmware ? Right now I can not use any wired or wireless devices at all.

That worked. Well the downgrading worked, but it didn't help with the frequent disconnects. I also downgraded to 7.4.2 as I saw someone solving their problems by doing that.

It seems like the 7.6.1 firmware update I did, more or less bricked my Airport Extreme. I've tried restarting the DSL modem and checked all wiring from the box.

I get intermittent disconnects every now and then. Sometimes I can run for an hour, other times it repeats evert few minutes.

My network has a Time Capsule as internet router/hub, an airport extreme, and 5 airport express as wireless extenders/usb printer ports. My upgrade went without a hitch, except iPhone with IOS 5 was dropping wireless connection. I reset the network settings in the iPhone and restarted Time Capsule. All is well.

Have you tried switching channels on your wireless network ? Pick a channel with fewer networks. Download something like Download iStumbler Release 99 to scan the area for a clean channel.

Set security to WPA2-Personal. Make sure your DHCP settings are configured correctly. Also try naming your 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz networks differently and then associate to teh 5 Ghz network and check if your issue goes away. If it still exists, then try the 2.4 Ghz network and experiment.

Hi !

Please look at this answer from Gino Cerullo.

I did process that way and everything is working fine.

Anyway, if you think new Airport Firmware release 7.6.1 is still causing you

troubles,

once you have downloaded Airport Utility 5.6,

It will allow you to downgrade your Airport devices firmware

using the menu option Basestation ->Upload firmware

where you will be able to choose the release you wish.

This helped meRe: Airport Utility 6.0 is regressive vs. 5.5

So... I just upgraded my Airport Extreme to 7.6.1. I wasn't having any issues with 7.6, but now I am. Basically, I have an Airport Extreme and three Expresses. Two of the Expresses are 1st Generation (non- 802.11n) and the other one is the newer version. Basically, they were all being used in the network before to extend the range, but now, the utility is showing that the older two won't re-join the network. Anyone know if I lost compatibility somehow? Will they still work with this update? If not, I'll downgrade, but some info would be great.

Thanks!

HI !

I do agree with you.

I finally :

updated to Airport utility graphic 6.0

downloaded Airport utility 5.6 (giving back most of 5.5 features)

installed 7.6.1 Firmware on all my Airport devices

and upgraded OS from 10.7.2 to 10.7.3

Everything is working flawlessly by now.

It looks like Airport utility graphic 6.0 is kind of beta release,

This being the reason of Airport utility 5.6,

May be untill 6.0 be fully operational.

The only feature I miss from Airport utility 5.5

Is the possibility to make a different mac adresses access security setup

for each Airport device,

Now every change you make on any of your devices is duplicated to all others.
