How to stop itunes opening automatically?

Help. iTunes keeps opening automatically and it's really irritating. Often doesn't open fully - just the icon in the dock - and I need to force quit to shut it down.

(By the way, my iTunes library is on an external drive.) Embarrassingly happens when I'm in the middle of a client presentation.

I have tried the following -

In iTunes prefs - ticked box 'Prevent iphones from automatically syncing.'

In iTunes with iPhone device listed, in Summary panel checked no tick by 'sync over wi-fi'

Is it iCloud? Is it iTunes? Is it my phone? Why is this so messy!

Driving me mad. Getting so fed up with iTunes thinking of looking for an alternative.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hey there,

I was downloading audio's for a class and iTunes was launching each one and driving me bonkers. I saw this on an Austrailan forum and it fixed my issue.

Open Preferences in Safari. In the General tab, turn of "Open Safe files after uploading".

Now I can download the MP3s for my class and iTunes stays off. This affects PDFs too. I hope this helps!

Are you having the issue when you connect a device via USB? Like when you connect your iPhone?

If that's when it's happening all you have to do is go into iTunes. Click on the device that's currently connected. Go to the Summary Tab and UNCHECK the box that says open iTunes when this device is connected.

Will fix that.

Sounds like you've got a different issue though...
