No signal on iPhone 4S, weird problem!

I got my iPhone 4S today. I inserted my sim-card from my iPhone 4, but I got no signal. Sometimes it get signal a few seconds before it says "No service".
Then I tried to insert another sim-card from a friend, and then it worked fine.
To check it wasn't an operator lock or something, I inserted my sim-card into his iPhone, and surprisingly it worked.

I would appreciate you'r help if you know something about this!

By the way - I've tried to restore network settings multiple times with no sucess.

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1

Same problem here in Germany too.... the previous iOS was working fine (battery issues apart) but right now the phone is simply unusable. I am pretty disappointed.

I'll see on Monday if I can exchange the SIM card for a new one and see if it works. I've tried every other possible workaround and nothing has worked yet.

If not... I'm just hoping for a fast release of a new software version fixing this since I'll have to go back to an older phone. One that can actually receive and make calls.

Same problem here in Spain with Vodafone Carrier. I've tried resseting network, called my carrier to reset their network params. I 'm having this issues since 5.0 and now with 5.0.1. 3G Network comes and goes even without moving the phone, leaving it on the desk.

I am waiting to the next firmware release to see if the problem is solved. if not I 'll try a SIM replacement to discard a SIM problem.

Same problem here in my iPhone 4S 16GB. After updating for iOS 5.0.1 I have been losing signal constantly.

Can't make calls, sms or use 3g. Then it gets back for about 5 minutes and stops again.

Really hope Apple is working to fix this quickly, it's impossible to have a phone like this.

I bought my iPhone in France and currently use it in Brazil (Vivo).

Hello All, spl Apple support,

I bought Iphone4s three days back and as others already started observing signal loss.

I tried all fixes from the Internet, sim unlock, network reset Etc etc but nothing worked.

I even tested with all network operators but still it did not solve the problem.

However just to let all know I was using iphone4 with the same micro sim that I am using now with iphone4s and I face signal problem.

I am currently using my phone in Saudi Arab. Couple of my friends and colleagues using iPhone 4s and facing the same issue.

I am sure it is not an version update issue eg iO5.1 issue but looks like a iphone4S issue itself.

Seems like Apple made a phone with many glitches.

Regards

Mubeen.

Exactly the same problem that I have. I bought a neverlocked IPhone 4s in Canada Apple store, didn't try it there, but brought to Latvia, where the signal comes and goes. It shows signal. sometimes even allows to make calls and texting, but then again nothing....

I changed the card to a new one, but the same problem continues.

I don't know what to do and I am very disappointed with Apple for having this issue and not fixing it.

Please inform us about this issue as it is clear that it is not a one time rare issue, but a failure in mass.

Done a bit of research on this today and the problems seems to stem from the software, specifcally 5.0.1. A new release is due 10Jan12 which may well solve the problem.

All the networks, 02, Voda etc will tell you to change the sim, try different location etc, don't waste your time they're just following a standard response/process and don't actually know how to solve the issue.

Looking at it further someone suggested that the software is constanlty cycling radion on & off which conflicks with the SW some how.

The good news is if it's SW related then it should be fixed in a new release so we just need to sit tight. On the other hand you would think that the first thing to get right when manufacturing the phone would be the signal, especially when they had signal problems in their previous version (iPhone 4). COME ON APPLE PULL YOUR FINGER OUT!!!

No signal on iPhone 4S, weird problem!
