1st Gen Nano Recall Notification

Finally! I got notification from Apple this evening that they will be replacing my 1st gen nano. I had to verify serial number, but other than that they said they will send me packing materials and instructions to send it back and they will send me a replacement. They didn't say what they would replace it with (refurbish 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen...). Anyone have an inkling?

I mailed my ipod in on Jan 13 to an IL location and received the relacement from a PA location exactly one month later. I also received an e-mail with the pending shipment notice and tracking number. That was a good thing since the Fedex package requires a signature at delivery. Thanks Apple, I think this was handled very well and I love the upgraded ipod.

Now UPS has to do an investigation before I can get my Ipod and report to it to Apple. This is getting rediculous, but at least I know it wasn't Apples's fault.

So I'm looking at a 12 week turnaround time to replace two broken iPods. Ridiculous.

They were broken and unusable. You are getting 2 new ones. The turnaround is hardly an issue.

That said, it does seem that you have ended up in a queue cesspool. My first two Nanos (sent in Nov.) arrived 32 days after Apple received the old ones. I had another Nano received at Apple on Jan. 5 and I've now been notified that my replacement was sent on Friday (approx. 6 weeks). I would recommend calling the Apple service number and ask if you were dropped from the queue somehow. It doesn't seem reasonable when most are receiving their replacements in approximately 12 week from receipt by Apple and you haven't received yours.
