1st Gen Nano Recall Notification

Finally! I got notification from Apple this evening that they will be replacing my 1st gen nano. I had to verify serial number, but other than that they said they will send me packing materials and instructions to send it back and they will send me a replacement. They didn't say what they would replace it with (refurbish 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen...). Anyone have an inkling?

I recieved an Email on 2012-01-28 that your service request has been completed and your IPOD NANO shipped on the 201-01-27. Even gave me the serial number but still no sign of my replacement yet ?.

Tracking number has not been activated yet. Over three months since i sent my old IPOD which worked perfectly OK and no replacement. Thanks APPLE.....!

There was a section of the ups form which you were to keep, with a tracking number. So you can track the parcel. Apple would update their records to received if they have it. Start with ups and if it has been received by Apple then call them. The whole process should take less than 2 weeks, as per my transaction anyway

I can’t assume to know specifically why someone would be having a problem with the recall. All I can do is state my case as proof that they are in fact doing something and getting it done with some people as of today’s date. I sent my request in around 4-29-2012 and got my FedEx envelope less than 24 hours later. It took 2 days (each) shipping there and back plus 2 days at Apple. All said and done I had my replacement in a week total.

The replacement is a silver 6g nano 8 gig with the serial number linked to a manufacture date of 2-7-2012, and it is one of 3000 in a production. I would assume that it is new because of the manufacture date. I would suggest to keep an eye on it with the shipping tracking number, Apple’s repair status web page and to contact Apple directly if you are failing to receive any product or updates. Wow, some folks are still waiting after numerous months!!!!

I call Apple on December, because never received the box or whatever they send in order to send back the iPod. Then Apple (not me) opened a new request, and email me instructions to send my iPod. See:

I call Apple yesterday, and guess what... The person on the phone said that they didn't send my replacement because "I didn't call again Apple"... Can you believe that? I HAVE to call in order to receive my replacement??? Apple, I hope, will send the iPod next week. But, and this is weird, they opened a new request, as I never send nothing to them and I received an email with the well-know instructions. See:

Tell me if this is what we can call a "good service"... I open the first request, Apple two and still waiting.

You can imagine what do I say if somebody ask me about Apple's customer service...
