I would like to know what turning badge app icon ON means. What am I turning on or off? It came with iOS5.

Thanks for the explanation. I can only think of 3-400 alternate names that would have been more self-explanatory. iPhone's whole notification system is one of the least intuitive I have seen.

Now a days, common way to notify.
Badge icon with number notice about whats new updates, New notification are still present that you miss. So user can get it withouht any of miss.
