iOS 5.0.1 Crashing iPhone 3GS

My 3Gs is having connectivity issues ever since I went to 5.1.1. I am wondering if it's an ATT problem. It drops calls readily, can't/slow connection, (has no bars, almost no bars, is searching, has no 3G on screen, and connectivity is unstable. iI changes from minute to minute. Since I work out of town and my phone is my business and personal lifeline for calls as well as email...I am desperate. Tried rebooting...no help.

Suggestions, please.

Really umbelievable I returned both my iphone3gs to the assistance and thy said that is an hardware problem (the logic part) and thus asked for 200 euro for each phone plus battery (120) so 320 euro. Is that possible that two phnes purchased same period both behave the same? And now my iphone 4 purchased 8 months ago is doing the same. Is that me?

I recently bought my iPhone from EB Games, fully refurbished. Pre-owned, but completely erased and set up as a completely new phone.
When the battery percentage reaches approximately 51%, the phone just powers down and tells me it has absolutely no batter whatsoever.
I've had a read and I've turned on 3G and I'll probably keep it on, now.
My question is this: Is my problem to do with the battery itself? If so, I'll be going into my nearest store for a battery replacement.

same for me, i intalled the iOS 6 and now my phone is constantly rebooting at the start apple screen, itunes does not reco it, i am really p... off with that up-grade... hope they will manage to post a solution soon

I want to tell my personal story thats related to the discussion here.

All started with the 3GS of a friend. It was jail-broken and running on iOS 4.1.

Everything worked well so far. I suggested to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 because the

phone was almost two years old and had not been upgraded at all.

So I did the upgrade and jail-broke the phone again. After a couple of days my friend told me that the phone now crashes randomly and restarts only when it gets plugged to be recharged.

At the first glance it seems to me to be a iOS problem. So I started to google for

such problems. Meanwhile I tried to reproduce the situation of a such a crash.

This was not extraordinary difficult, making a call, starting the navigation

app or using the camera was enough to get into trouble.

Curiously it not happens when the phone just plays music.

After a while of investigation I discovered this topic here and studied it carefully.

Obviously goofbear had similar symptoms and the same problem and solved it by swapping the battery.

This sounds a bit strange to me but it began to make sense because I had noticed the following things:

1. trying to restart the phone after a "crash" showed a screen with a empty battery

2. direct restart after a crash while plugged for recharging, the battery state showed a loss of more than 20%

3. I found a diagnostics menu in iOS with logs about problematic events that have been occurred,

containing something like this:

SpringBoard: com.apple.springboard.enableidlesleep EnableIdleSleep == 255, held for 38:56:27

...

displayName

LowBatteryLog

name

LowBatteryLog

...

This all encouraged me to order a new battery and to replace the old one.

Now everything works well again. Big thanks to goofbear!!!

I have no problems but you may need to do a restore.

Mine is doing the same thing. It doesn't stay on long enough to do a restore.

Exactly the same problem here. 3GS, IOS 5.0.1 upgraded over the air. Crashes after 2 minutes now.

3GS, did the update to 5.0.1, after that it keeps rebooting every 2 minutes.

Unable to even backup the phone.

See above. Restore to a previous backup, if you have one.

Further to my other post. Ive done a restore via iTunes and its working ok again now so follow my earlier instructions then once its up and running RESTORE

This did the trick after an OTA update to 5.0.1 on my 3GS caused the reboot every 2-3 minute problem. Thanks and kudos for finding the fix!

Apple: Pretty bad QA...

Same problem here, except it started immediately after installing iOS 5. Also, instead of rebooting every 2 minutes my 3GS will just randomly die every now and then. Super annoying!!

I have a 3g6 16gb iphone and was randomly rebooting every now and then even if on standby. This problem really *****! I hope apple can do something about this!

Are you restoring from backup? Or restoring to factory settings? Let us know how it goes!
