iOS 5.0.1 Crashing iPhone 3GS

Hi, I own a iPhone 3GS 32 GB, and I just updated to iOS 5.0.1. For some reason, even if my iPhone is on sleep, it keeps rebooting every 2 minutes, regardless of what I am doing. It goes back to the apple logo, reboots, and shows the lock screen. After unlocking it, I can only use it for about 2 minutes everytime. Then the screen goes black. I don't know what's the problem, because iOS 5.0 was working perfectly fine before updating. I updated without connecting it to my computer over wifi. Does anyone else have this problem???

Hi all,

New batteries are not required for fix this problem.

This problem occurs when the following conditions;

- iPhone 3GS

- iOS 5.0.1

- disable "Cellular Data" (use WiFi)

Trigger;

- Shutdown the iPhone (include: out of battery)

Workaround;

- 1. Enable "Cellular Data" (NOT out of service area)

- 2. Wait few seconds

- 3. Re-disable "Cellular Data"

After upgrade to iOS 5.1.1, I was not able to seem this problem.

My problem sounded similar to yours, my phone crashing at all sorts of times, including the middle of calls, and the response from Mohammad fixed it immediately for me, Maybe worth a try?

OK.........Finally I found the solution for sim problem with update 5.0.1 and the solution for fixing the iphone 3gs keeps rebooting or keeps restarting after 3-2 minutes?

for fixing the sim issues with update 5.0.1 or the rebooting problem do the following:

  1. Take the sim out
  2. enable the 3G and cellular date in network setting
  3. than insert the sim back
  4. the netwok will register your sim via 3G not GSM
  5. than after 3 minutes turn off 3G and cellular data

congratulation………your problem had been solved?...Im not an expert…butits seems this update 5.0.1…is not suitable for 3GS phones as they have ( special tapfro turning 3g on and off)this update is suitable for iphone 4?which enable automatically 3G.

Theapple should have warn all 3GS phone about that ………not waiting some one notexpert like me to solve it out?

Anyway……………have a nice day every one

My 3Gs is having connectivity issues ever since I went to 5.1.1. I am wondering if it's an ATT problem. It drops calls readily, can't/slow connection, (has no bars, almost no bars, is searching, has no 3G on screen, and connectivity is unstable. iI changes from minute to minute. Since I work out of town and my phone is my business and personal lifeline for calls as well as email...I am desperate. Tried rebooting...no help.

Suggestions, please.

Really umbelievable I returned both my iphone3gs to the assistance and thy said that is an hardware problem (the logic part) and thus asked for 200 euro for each phone plus battery (120) so 320 euro. Is that possible that two phnes purchased same period both behave the same? And now my iphone 4 purchased 8 months ago is doing the same. Is that me?

I recently bought my iPhone from EB Games, fully refurbished. Pre-owned, but completely erased and set up as a completely new phone.
When the battery percentage reaches approximately 51%, the phone just powers down and tells me it has absolutely no batter whatsoever.
I've had a read and I've turned on 3G and I'll probably keep it on, now.
My question is this: Is my problem to do with the battery itself? If so, I'll be going into my nearest store for a battery replacement.

Thanks a bunch for your help, guys!
