Sync Motorola v325?

I've read reviews of the v325 where the reviewer
mentions that they sync the device with iSync but I
can't seem to get iSync to see the phone. Has anyone
had luck with this?

I have the same issue. Using OS X 10.4.4, iSync 2.2.1, iSync does not recognize that the V325 is connected.

Granted that the iSync compatibility list does not include the V325 as a supported device but "CurtYanko" over at PhoneScoop.com says it syncs with his Mac. <http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/user_reviews.php?phone=742>. I'd like to know how he accomplished that.

On a semi-related note, using a USB-to-miniUSB cable to connect from the phone to the Mac's built-in USB port results in the phone's display showing a brief "Charge Complete" before it changes to "Unable to Charge". Phone charges fine using the Motorola power adapter. Called Motorola Tech Support only to be told that the phone could not be charged from a computer's USB port because I didn't have Motorola Phone Tools software (and its drivers!) installed. Sure... I believe that!




Mac OS X (10.4.4) iSync 2.2.1

I read CurtYanko's review and it was posted in November, before the phone was available. Maybe he read somewhere that iSync would support it but I can't get it to work. However my phone DOES charge when plugged into the UBS port of my Powerbook. I don't receive any "Unable to Charge" dialogue and the battery meter starts to move.
If it helps I have software version R9-1 X05.28.09P

Any news on this? I've heard of plugins/hacks to iSync that'll get it to work, but I can't find any more information than that.

Now something got weird. Suddenly I can't charge through my USB port anymore. Same cable, same laptop, same phone. Yesterday it said "Unable to Charge" and today it won't even react to the cable. I'm hoping this phone becomes supported sometime in the near future.

Same here. I noticed just today that it no longer charges through USB. Mine, however, does react. I get the two beeps when connecting or disconnecting and the outside screen lights up.

I have the same problem! I want to sync Badly!

I can attempt to write a plugin for this phone if one or two people can post here the results of the following procedure.

1. With your phone connected via USB, open the System Profiler application.

2. Browse to Hardware -> USB

3. In the USB Device Tree pane, locate your phone and click on it once.

4. The resulting information pane will report the "Product ID" and "Vendor ID", they should be something like the following:

Product ID: 0x3002
Vendor ID: 0x22B8

Post the Product ID and Vendor ID here. I will let you know here when I have a Beta plugin available, so subscribe to this thread. I'm assuming the phone doesn't have bluetooth (based on Motorola Specs) so I will write a USB only plugin.

OK, so the problem is probably the AT identification string.

If someone can do the following with their phone, then I may be able to finish this.

1. Download ZTerm - http://homepage.mac.com/dalverson/zterm/

2. Connect your phone via USB - make sure the phone is in the "Data Connection" or "Data Modem" USB mode (some phones offer a "Memory Card" mode). If you can't find the option on your phone, it is probably OK to proceed.

3. Open ZTerm

4. Select the USB modem port that corresponds to your phone from the modem dropdown list. If there is no dialog box with a dropdown list of serial ports, then select:

Settings -> Modem preferences

Once a serial port is selected, you should get a response in the terminal window that says:

ATE1 V1
OK

*Note: Be very careful using ZTerm, only use the following commands - I take no responsibility etc. etc. *

4. Type the following:

AT+GMI

...and press "return" on your keyboard

The response should be something like:

+GMI: "Motorola CE, Copyright 2005"

5. Next type:

AT+GMM

The response varies from phone model to phone model.

6. Copy the entire output of your terminal window and paste it in this forum thread.

according to here this hack should work... I was able to do the same when I had a v710 which was supported but only via cable... got it working via BT...

the last comment someone seems to say that it works for the 325. I'll be getting a 325 soon to replace my e815 with a wonky charger port... i'll report back if it get it syncing.

PS. There is some truth to the charging. From what I understand motorolla software does some WEIRD stuff (heard reports that people with blackberrys could not charge at all without the software)... I wouldnt rule out a seem edit to make the phone work.. I know there are seem edits that make sending it pictures if you search on some of the forums...
