iPhone 3GS keeps rebooting iOS 5

I am at the stage that I am HATING having spent £300 on a phone that messes up every week!

My iPhone was running absolutely bang on on iOS 4.3.3 but like an idiot I decided to update it to 5.0 !

Now that it has been updated it has been running fine for like a week, however last night when I put it on charge it keeps restarting every 3 minutes for no absolute reason!

I switched my phone off and on again and still does the same thing!

I connected my iPhone to iTunes on DFU mode so that I could try to restore it, however no success!

So I went online and checked for new updates, found out that the iOS 5.0.1 was out which could be why Apple is playing with me?

I again connected my iPhone to iTunes and went for the update (my iPhone is still in DFU mode) it downloads most of the iOS 5.0.1 684.9 out of 685.0 MB and gives me an error saying network connection interrupted?! I tried it 4/5 times! Always does the same!

I do not know what to do anymore!

Please HELP! 😕

Just wanted to chip in, my 3gs 32GB suddenly started rebooting every 3 minutes or so, I thought the phone was duff and as I'd given it to my son having just had a new 4S was blaming him for not looking after it, however having followed the instructions from k_mattson I can confirm 100% mine is now working fully again and hasn't rebooted once in the last hour...

Huge thank you, I had given my son an old 'Blackberry' yuk to use instead, this software error could have caused me to fall out with my 12 year old and blame him for something that wasn't his fault, the sporadic rebooting looked so much like a hardware fault I wrongly assumed he hadn't looked after the phone properly and had dropped it or something... come on Apple I'm a huge fan so this needs sorting out sooner rather than later!

So after you turn off your 3G and Cellular data does that mean you can't turn it back on for the solution to work? What happens if we need to use 3G?

IOS 5 isn't really made for a 3GS mate. It causes a lot of problems and slows the phone down unbelievably. I would suggest trying to downgrade to 4.0.

Just wanted to comment that my 3GS has run both happily and very quickly since installing iOS5, never slowed down any from iOS3 or iOS4, if anything seems a little more responsive, also wanted to add that as of updating to the latest version as of today, it seems to have corrected the fault anyway, so all good!

Yes you ca just switch the 3G back on, it works fine afterwards, but upgrade to 5.1 asap, as this seems to have cured my problems anyway ...

any progress with that? I got the same thing, but things dont go back to normal even when I switch to the old, native battery!!
