Would apple online store sell opened box ipod or macbook as brand new?

I really hate used stuff even open box.

If I buy something which already realeases half an year, I feel uncomfortable to buy it. Cause I'm wondering if it is opened box or returned product. I shopped at bestbuy and homedepot. Saleassitant tells me it is brand new, however you could see a lot of scratches on it. DEFINITILY USED! I do not have experice to buy stuff from apple store. Anyone knows?

I only bought ipad 1st generation here cause I preorder it. I know it's brand new.

I asked apple store assistant, they tell me if customers return something, all products will be shipped back to apple. Is it true??

How could apple deal with these products? It's impossible to sell all theses products as refurbished on the official apple website.

How do you guys think about this?

No store should sell open box stock as brand new, though some will say that it's new but open box or demo. If you believe you were sold an opened iPad as new, not designated as open box or a demo, go back to the store and talk to the store manager.

Note, however, that the original iPad was discontinued back in March of this year, so if you just purchased an iPad 1, it's highly unlikely that it was new stock, particularly not from an Apple Store (and by that I mean a store owned and operated by Apple themselves).

Regards.
