So many problems with iTunes Match...

So far my experience with iTunes Match has been horrible. I keep getting a ton of unmatched songs that absolutely should be matched, and lots of upload errors.

For example, the album "Houses of the Holy" by Led Zeppelin.... http://i.imgur.com/RscRg.png

After toying around with it for a while, i found that sometimes using iTunes to create an AAC version of a unmatched song, the newly created AAC version does get matched. Not sure why this is, as the original unmatched files are 320bit MP3s.

Another issue I've found is that albums are not sorting correctly on my iPhone with iTunes Match active. I use dougscripts in iTunes to copy the release year of all my albums into the "sort album" meta data field. So that way on my ipod or iphone albums are sorted chronologically. Through iTunes match, none of my albums are being sorted correctly. Its not even that they're sorted alphabetically instead of chronologically. They're just listen in what seems like a completely random order.

Yet another MAAAJJJOOORRR complaint is with the album art. I am very meticulous about my album art. Every album in my library has album art displayed. My first step in getting album art is trying to get album art through iTunes. Most of the time this works fine. For the ones that dont, I just search google images and copy and paste the album art in... What I'm finding though, is that all my albums with album art gotten through iTunes, is not showing up on my iPhone when using iTunes Match. But albums where I had to paste a image in to iTunes, those do show up on my iPhone. This is not 100% consistent, but pretty close.

Overall I am very disappointed with iTunes Match so far. The Apple philosophy of "it just works" certainly does not apply to this product.

Im going to wait it out another couple of days or a week or so, and if things don't get better, I'll be calling in asking for a refund.

First of all, I'd like to apologize for not trolling. This post will be rather bland.

I've had iTunes Match activated on my iPhone 4 for about five days now. When I activated it, it wiped the artwork from many of the albums that were stored on my phone. It's seemingly random too. It wipes the art no matter if the song is purchased from iTMS or not, uploaded or matched, and no matter the pixel size of the artwork on iTunes on the Mac. All of my artwork appears in iTunes on the Mac. I replaced some after the initial matching process wiped it off the Mac, and since then, it has stuck.

Once in a while the artwork will appear for an album, like the David Bowie one I just bought from iTMS last night. Then after playing a song, the artwork disappears.

I'm totally boggled as to a solution. People keep saying it takes a few days. Umm, more than five anyone?

I'm sorry, I love my Apple products, but this is pretty unacceptible.

I have a problem with iTunes Match. I can see in iTunes in my PC that i have 6631 songs. However when i select my iPhone Music (where I don't have any songs) I can see only 6510 musics. I coul find some of the missing musics in my iTunes library in my PC where it says it was matched but could not find an explanation why i can't see them in mty iPhone.

I didn't read everything in here, but I figured something out about the sorting issues, especially on the iPhone.

When the iPhone sorts by album using iTunes match, the algorithm is wrong. The Album Name field takes precedence over the Sort Album field if, and only if, the Album Name can be parsed by the "smart sorting" system. In other words, if an album name starts with "A", "An" or "The", or any number of punctuation, then the album is alphabetized by Album Name, otherwise, it uses Sort Album.

This is really aggravating. Syncing with a regular library puts everything in proper order, but the iTunes match library leaves everything in disarray.

I am having the same issues - spent alot of time and effort to get all the album art, tracks, etc. Once I set-up itunes match, the album artwork appears randomly. Many of the albums that I even bought from itunes is missing the artwork. Really a let down. It is strange that pratically all the artwork that I found myself and pasted into my itunes are actually the ones that do show-up - which really makes no sense.

I have a fairly large library of just over 7,000 songs legitimately accumulated from my own collections of CDs and a small number of paid-for non-DRM downloads saved in MP3 format. Of all those songs iTunes Match only recognised just over 2,000 and I had to upload the rest including one album I am fairly sure I downloaded from iTunes. In other words, its major selling point simply didn't work over two-thirds of the time.

The songs and albums it did not recognise included ones by major acts such as the Beatles, R.E.M, Radiohead, and U2, all of which were in the iTunes store and as far as I could tell were all correctly labelled and tagged. It also seemed to have a major problem with artwork.

I shouldn't be too surprised ... whenever I have ever tried to use iTunes to get tagging information it nearly always tells me that the songs are not recognised and it could not get song titles, artwork or whatever. Like many aspects of ageing iTunes, song recognition and tagging is extremely poor and has an American bias so that CDs bought outside the US simply aren't recognised because the track listings, song length or spellings are slightly different. It is also completely automated so it either works perfectly or not at all and never gives the user the option to manually intervene and look up information on the internet or in iTunes itself. It is rubbish for tagging compared with rival programmes, including I am sorry to say Microsoft's Media Player.

I was also very disapponted that it doesn't give me a streaming option. I can understand why it would download whole tracks to mobile devices, so that people can continue listening in poor reception areas. But it would be nice to have a streaming option or possibly some kind of time limited download so that the track is erased after it has been listened to a set number of times so memory doesn't get wasted.

It took almost all day to upload my collection so I may as well have used free rival services from Google and Amazon (if they had been available outside the US). I have been left hugely disappointed by the service. Apple may not always be the best or cheapest option but it usually "just works" and I can't be bothered with all the geekery surrounding systems like Android which seem to change every other week and come in a baffling array of versions and flavours as each Far East manufacturer tweaks the code. But in this case Apple "just didn't work" most of the time.

Way too many problems with iTunes Match. When I called to cancel my subscription they started listing a whole bunch of conditions where iTunes Match will not work (i.e., type of song, size, format, playlist type, bal bla bla...). So much for cloud sync for music!!! My advice to you "don't waste your money".....Steve is gone (God Bless his soul) and Apple quality will start going down from here....(my opinion)

Is anybody in this forum working on getting a refund from Apple? I have tried and Apple has so far refused to refund my subscription fee under the guise of "an itunes purchase". This is total bull**it as this is a subscription service provided by Apple and not a typical iTunes song, book, or movie purchase. Sounds like a total scam to me!
