iTunes Match taking forever to upload artwork

I've been having trouble with the third step of iTunes Match. It will complete steps 1 & 2 but then during step 3 it will stop and just sit there and make no progress. Every time I stop it and start it, it just gives me a lower number of complete artwork. For example: It will say 133 of 756 and stay there for more than 5 hours so I stop it and then it says 50 of 534 and stop and now it says 0 of 119. Any suggestions?

VPN helps for sure but I didn't realize at first that in China the iTunes Match sync is blocked and the uploads have been going on only when I had the VPN on. My customer's brother works for China Telecom and I asked her to find out what's going on with iT Match. I got a translation from a person who is not an expert but basically, China Telecom doesn't like the idea of millions of Chinese uploading music to USA. Not only foreigners have overseas iTunes accounts but loooot of Chinese too through their relatives and friends. ISPs can throttle VPN speeds, in uploads it means there is a time limit and after that you will get only 5kbs up. The iTM is in its current form an absurd idea and all the ISPs are trying to prevent it from working. No matter that in general people don't use that much of uploads but it's still creating Internet traffic and with 500 million iDevices and millions of home computers uploading songs for matching it adds up.

So, the way I understand this the problem is not that Apple doesn't know how to run iTunes Match, it's that they designed it in a stupid way that makes the ISPs sabotage it.

I too had this problem with my Macbook Pro. I have a 15000 song library and when I added a couple of new albums, iTunes Match just sat there forever...

What evenutally worked for me was the following sequence of steps:

i) Turning iTunes Match off in the Store pull down.

ii) Reseting the iTunes Store Cache in iTunes...Preferences....Advanced

iii) Quiting iTunes

iv) Running Disk Utility - Repair Permissions

iv) Restarting the MacBook in Safe Mode - holding down Shift.

v) Swtiching off the virus scanner (Sophos)

vi) Starting iTunes and Turning iTunes Match on. It then whisked through and was done in less than ten minutes!

I'm not entirely sure which of these many steps actually sorted the problem out but it worked for me.

Good luck.

Thanks Marc!

I added a couple albums to my 17000+ song library days ago and iMatch wasn't adding the songs.

Rather than go through all the steps, I tried "Reseting the iTunes Store Cache in iTunes...Preferences....Advanced" first, since that seemed most directly related to iMatch (and I didn't know that setting existed so I never cleared it before).

Magic! The songs immediately showed as matched and were immediately available on my iPhone.

Thanks again!
