Kyocera scanner connection failure since 10.6.8 update

Since Snow Leopard 10.6.8 update my Kyocera KM1650 has connection failure "cannot find destination PC" while attempting to scan to Mac Pro via an Ethernet switch, single user account. Also had printing issues but this was corrected using a "CUPS" fix. All connections are responding using Ping test. Have tried several suggested .plist trashes but with no success. The local sales agent has suggested replacing the printer/scanner with a current model to solve the issue!? 10.6.8 seems it might be a $3800 update. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any fixes available?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

When you ran the 10.6.8 update, did you also run any printer/scanner updates from Apple? It's been my (admittedly limited) experience that as printers get more and more out-of-date, the driver updates from Apple tend to become less functional for the device. E.g., my Epson wide format printer, which goes back to OS 9, prints on 24" wide 100 foot rolls of paper, but the newest Apple printer drivers don't even offer roll paper as an option; just different sizes of cut sheet.

Have you tried installing a recent Kyocera driver? Kyoceramita.eu (http://http://www.kyoceramita.eu/index/service/dlc.false.driver.KM1650._.EN.html #) is showing Mac drivers as new as 7/11 which may help.

Thanks, but have installed that particular driver with no success. My OSX update was from 10.6.6 which was operating normally to 10.6.8 & thats when the issues starting occurring, I have checked my updates/drivers etc are current. It seems to be a connection issue of sorts, but tests show a connection, but there is some sort of a blocker. Can I route some other way to the Mac Pro? Do not use wireless connection, just the ethernet switch. Will look into Twain as a compromise but would prefer direct scanning to Mac pro.

was gonna suggest VueScan, but maybe run disk utility and repair permissions

I think Image Tricks and Preview will do twain scanning. maybe do a printer system reset... maybe that account is hooped and you need to login as administrator and set up a new one? Might be worth a shot.... maybe release and renew the printer's IP address? other than that, I dunno, maybe archive and install from your original 10.6 dvd's

on the kyocera website, there's stuff for the printer, 10.6 and 10.7 but the scanner stuff sez 10.4 and up. maybe if you uninstall the original stuff, trash it and reinstall it, maybe helpful. Failing that, maybe you can find a scanner that works from someone else

sorry I couldn't be more helpful
