An unknown error occurred (11111). Anyone have a clue what this means?!

When trying to download certain MATCHED songs, I'm getting the message that "This item cannot be downloaded." This initial message is then followed by another message: "There was problem downloading x (where x is the name of the song). An unknown error occurred (11111)." This seems to happen randomly. Most frustratingly, I then cannot play any of these songs in iTunes. iTunes cannot find them in the cloud, even though the status shows Matched! I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas here. Apple, are you checking these forums?!

I'm getting more and more of these errors. I've tried rebooting my iPhone, but same thing happens.

I've just tried moving the tracks that are already on my main PC out of the iTunes folder, deleting from iTunes and re-adding from the holding bin I set up.

And so naturally, iTunes Match is hanging on "sending information to Apple" 😢

(I tried converting tracks back intp mp3's... still hangs.)

Same error here, on both my 10.7.4 laptop and 5.1.1 iPhone, on the same songs. About one in 15 files just refuses to download with the 11111 error -- this error seems new as of this week. This error also stops a batch downloadively s, so I effectneed to download files one-by-one. 😟 Like others, I paid for Music Match to make my life easier and not have to fiddle with my library. Not happy.

I don't use any playlists.

I have exactly the same issue. iTunes Match worked flawlessy until this week (14k songs in the could). Now I have frequent problems downloading already matched songs. Even tracks I was able to download 2 weeks ago will not work anymore. Re-importing these will do the job (for the moment). Funny enough sometimes after trying to download some of these problematic songs multiple times it is working out. Others won't work at all. I have tried it out with rougly 30-40 albums. In total 42 tracks wouldn't download.

BTW: I have not problems that far with songs which needed to be uploaded because the matching didn't succeed. Obviously the problem just affects matched songs.

This is far from reassuring.

I think I know why this is happening.. I've noticed that when I download some Matched songs I get the original MP3.. I suppose iTunes thinks these songs are matched but they aren't.. So, If iTunes think a song is matched, but it's not and didn't upload it, it doesn't know where to download it from and then is when you get error 11111...

So, it's a problem with the service. And it's happening lately, maybe Apple is changing something with the match process, but its a pain in the.. like Tim Cook said at D10!

THat's all very well BUT in my case while this workaround is a solution, it is very manual for 100 or so problem tracks, and the copied back tracks have no play count history in the library any longer. Plus, in my case, I can't actually remove the tracks from iTunes Match, they remain listed in my library but are unplayable.

Yes, it is tedious. Anyhow with this script it is possible to migrate track infos to the newly imported songs:

Unfortunately you are right that the tracks cannot be deleted afterwards. I am currently using the workaround to assign the artist "ZZZ" to all of them so these will not show up in the correct albums.

Additonally I am waiting for a feedback from iTunes support. Let's check what they have to say...

Sorry to say your first mistake was not keeping a local copy of your library as a backup. I have 3 full lib backups (2 HDDS, incremental on data DVDs) and there's a 320 AAC encoding of my apple lossless lib on a 64 gb flash drive. Not to mention my Mac and PC HDD having the library as well as iTunes Match. I guess I'm sort of a redundancy freak.
