I found a tricks for IPHONE 4S IOS 5.0.1 ! It worked very well for me, it boost my IOS iphone battery for 90% battery of 1 Hour 30 min of use ans 3 hours and half of standBy.

Reset your Iphone 4s completely.

- Reset all settings includins note contact calendar etc.....

- Plug your "New" Iphone to Itunes

- When your IPHONE restart tell him that it's as a new iphone account ID

- Sync and choose only Apps who worked with the Iphone.

- After that, go to your Iphone and set up your contact and calendar from "Icloud" and once it done.

-Shut off "Icloud" and Keep your contact and calendar....reminder.... on your Iphone.

Since i did that, everything works great for me !

Tell me if it works for you MacPeople !!

I actually agree with thinking that icloud is the culprit. I noticed severe battery drain (7-10%/hr in standby & light usage) as soon as I got my @me email account on my iphone 4s.Before this, I was averaging 3 days without a re-charge (I shut my phone off while sleeping). I did a complete restore (not from backup). Pretty much said 'no' to everything, including icloud. The only thing i said 'yes' to was Siri. I am a light-moderate user, and am back to averaging 3 days without charging. I haven't added all my Apps yet because Im afraid one of those could have a bug....so when Apple finally figures this out indefinately, Im happy with phone, text, email, web, and Siri....and my full battery! 🙂

Hi, I was havig big troubles with my battery, it wouldn't last more then 4 hours so, I did a restore on itunes as some had said it would help, and it actually did (a little)
Altought I still think it should last longer.

here is what I got now:
Iphone 4S iOS 5.0.1 (9A406)

Bluetooth on
Notifications on for buit-in apps + gmail and facebook (each hour)

Localization services off for time-zone, siri, iAds, network search and all other system services

wi-fi off

lightness on auto and low.

siri on with raise to speak off

no iCloud account

no mail, contacts or calendar push

ping and itunes off (on restrictions)

and I got 5 hours of really light use (one phone call, two checks on gmail and facebook, couple of minutes playing and two photos taken)

15 hours on stand by

Is that how it's supposed to go?
I see people saying they get up to one day with moderate use.
I got these numbers barely using it, most of that time was during the night when I was sleeping.

If I open any app the battery drains real fast.

(I'm a new iphone user so I don't really know how long it is supposed to last but I thought (by the ads and all) it should last more then my previous android, but it doesn't come close)

My iPhone 4s with 5.01 loses 1% every 2 minutes if using 3G and 1% every 5 minutes if I use wi-fi. It generally cannot make through a whole work day. I don't use it for phone calls, so that is not the problem. Does Apple have a solution? I really don't want to reset since I will lose everything if I do. Backup has never worked for any iPhone I've owned and iCloud cannot seem to do a complete backup either.

James... you don't lose any of your data by "reseting all settings". This merely takes things like screen brightness, wallpaper, networking, etc back to the original default (if you have changed them). Just follow my process below, step by step and in order.

1. Reset all settings (settings app-> general-> reset)

2 a. Go through initial setup steps (lang, wifi, siri, enable location, etc) and choose setup as new phone (don't worry your apps, data, contacts, mail will still be there). Do NOT restore from iCloud or iTunes (It can copy back corrupt settings)

2 b. If you do not get the complete new setup screen with language setup and setup as new phone or restore from iTune/iCloud backup, be sure to go back to #1 and reset all settings again (it should happen the second time)

3. Turn off system location services timezone and iAd (settings -> location services -> system services)

4. Fully discharge battery (until you get the spinning wheel and it shuts off)

5. Fully recharge battery (overnight if possible)

In my experience this improves the Standby battery drain issue significantly in most cases. It reduces drain from 2-4% or more per hr to 0.5% or less. It has worked for many, many users now. If it does not work after a few try's you may have a real battery or hardware issue and should contact Apple. Good Luck!

I upgraded by 4S to the new OS version last week hoping that it would improve my 8 hour standby time. Now I find that the battery only lasts 6 hours and the thing is a hot as a brick from the oven. The 4S has died three times so far today. It is really only good if kept plugged in 100 percent of the time. I will give the suggestions here one last try. After that I guess its back to the old 3G. It at least lasts 8-10 hours on standby.

I have had 3 replacements from apple for my iphone 4S this week!!!

first was my original- volume buttons were broken

second replacement- phone shut down every hour or so

THIRD replacement- battery life drains within 4 hours with the phone on standby.

please can you tell me if your problem has been fixed, as my problem sounds sumilar to yours and another trip to apple means another £10 and an embarassing time explaining why im back AGAIN...

thanks

Thank you for the suggestion, but that didn't work. The Apple Genius people say that the Apps are to blame. If the apps have bad code then the battery drains. I've been putting up with 6 hour standby now for six months and it is getting tiresome. If I want to actually use the iphone 4S then the battery meter drops about 1% per minute. I even had the Genius guy wipe everything on the phone and restore it to factory settings. Battery usage was fine until I reinstalled my apps. Another problem is that it takes a very long time to charge -- up to six hours. That means that during an average day that the phone eventually runs out of juice unless I keep it plugged in all the time.
