Force iTunes Match to Upload/Match Duplicates?

Is there a way to get iTunes Match to match/upload a track listed with the icloud status duplicate? Say you have an album of an artist and then a greatest hits from them too and you would not like a track to be missing when trying to play that album on another computer or device. Sometimes this doesn't happen and it uploads/matches anyways. It's nice that it find duplicates and but it would be nice to say, "hey, I want it to be there." I've tried to add it again and that rarely works.

Is this not causing problems for anyone else? I found a way to force the duplicate to match/upload but then itunes match deletes the other file from icloud. If you delete duplicate song in the other album from your local itunes library but leave it in icloud. Then right-right the duplicate and add to icloud, it will add but then the duplicate song in the other album will disappear from icloud.

At this time iTunes Match will identify a track as duplicate even if the tracks appear in two separate albums. Unfortunately, there is no way to force the two tracks to exist together. You can find out more about iTunes Match features reviewed in this iLounge article below:

Wow. A year later and nobody has found a workaround for this problem. My issue is a bit different. I'm constantly recording and mixing new versions of songs in Logic that I need to send out to all of my devices. iTunes Match will leave the songs 'waiting' for a day or more after I try to manually upload them. I guess I'll start putting fake names on the tracks then correcting them after upload - at least until someone posts a solution.

Other than that, iTunes Match is awesome! :-)

Hi Bob,

I have posted a workaround for forcing uploads, and I did address the "Duplicate" message in my post. Please take a look at it and let me know if it answers your questions or gives you a starting point. I've been testing different things with Match and it sure has its quirks. In my experience, I would need to make a change to the metadata (often just changing the album to something slightly different) to get around the endless "Waiting" stage.

Here's my workaround to allow a 'forced upload': https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4544764

Hope it helps!

Nick
