iTunes Match Unknown Error (4010)

Does anyone know how to solve the "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (4010.)" when trying to set up iTunes Match? It almost went through once but froze at step 3. Now I'm just getting this error above at the end of step 1.

I currently only can see maybe 2/3rds of my iTunes library in the cloud. Some appear to be matches, some are uploads, however not everything is up there. I've tried restarting the match process to no success.

I've e-mailed apple, but the e-mail I got back directed me to these forums.

- I've checked the xml file and it appears to be fine

- I've turned off all other iOS devices/AppleTV

- I've checked for 'dead songs'

- Tried looking for a weird 'square' in my meta tags

- There are songs waiting to upload, but don't. (meet all requirements like being over 96k bit rate, etc.)

If the answer has been posted somewhere on here, please let me know. I feel I've done a fairly thourough search on here but unfortunately have not found any solutions yet.

Thanks,

-Mike

Hi,

My iTunes match has been hanging for days since the 11.01 iTunes update.

I tried the above solution but also found that while iTunes match is off.

(Select Turn Off iTunes Match in Store Menu with Option Key Pressed to turn off)

Turn on Genius before restarting iTunes match.

I found that I had to agree to Genius Terms and Conditions!

I'm assuming that Genius and iTunes Match are closely linked.

Could be a stumbling block/bug for iTunes match.

When Genius is setup, restart iTunes and update Genius in the Store menu.

Next restart iTunes Match.

This worked for me after days of problems with errors.

Hope this helps, I know how frustrating iTunes Match can be!

Does anyone actually know what option-clicking on "Turn iTunes Match off" actually does? From what people are saying here, for people who are halfway through their first upload to Match, this resets the process. But what does it mean for the rest of us? Is there any chance that option-clicking on "turn off" could cause a complete reset for people who have already matched?

I would like to try this out, but I don't want to rush in because it's screwed it up for many of you already.

Thanks!

I had the 4010 issue for multiple months and after trying everything that was listed here and corresponding with customer service, who directed me to various OTHER error code discussions, they finally just disabled my Match account and gave me a refund.

Too bad too, I really appreciate Match and it saved my whole library after a hard drive crash the first month I had it.

After asking my representative if re-subscribing would reset the issue, she told me to wait a couple weeks and to keep updating Genius.

Had this 4010 for a week. After reading all the posts (well loads anyway) just kept trying store>updateitunesmatch. then quit re-open. then select unmatched songs > right click and 'add to iCloud' and then it suddenly it started working.

I'm not sure which attempt worked so I suggest trying them all until something happens.

All teh delete and turn off suggestions seem to be unneccesary, but what would I know.

Keep clicking I say and wait for Apple to update iTunes again.

Good luck

I was having this same error. My library consist of 850 + Albums, over 11,000 songs, I thought it was because of the size. After trying to tturn off than on iTunes Match a few times, I relized that it was doing it while I was adding to my library. So now while I add new music, ripping CD's to my library I turn it off. After I am done I turn it back on and it seems to work OK. A few weeks ago it was getting stuck on the second phase around th 7,500 - 8.300 track and I had to start over but that worked itself out.

I've identified that this may have something to do with the music associated to iTunes match. I had a song that was downloaded by my son and associated to my iTunes match.....After I deleted that particular song.....My iTunes match began to work again. I would recommend checking your library for new music your unfamiliar with or just the new music in general, maybe if it's removed it will correct the error....It worked for me.

I got this error after importing songs from another iMac. After diligent troubleshooting, I found the cause of the 4010 error in my case. I had been using iTunes Family Sharing, and the songs that had been downloaded from other family members' accounts were the ones triggering the error. (I found this by selectively uploading only certain songs to iTunes, and discovered that all the songs that triggered the error contained other user names in the song purchase field.) After deleting from my library the songs purchased by other family members, I was able to use iTunes Match again, and did not get the 4010 error. Then I was able to re-download the family song purchases.
