iTunes Match Unknown Error (4010)

Does anyone know how to solve the "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (4010.)" when trying to set up iTunes Match? It almost went through once but froze at step 3. Now I'm just getting this error above at the end of step 1.

I currently only can see maybe 2/3rds of my iTunes library in the cloud. Some appear to be matches, some are uploads, however not everything is up there. I've tried restarting the match process to no success.

I've e-mailed apple, but the e-mail I got back directed me to these forums.

- I've checked the xml file and it appears to be fine

- I've turned off all other iOS devices/AppleTV

- I've checked for 'dead songs'

- Tried looking for a weird 'square' in my meta tags

- There are songs waiting to upload, but don't. (meet all requirements like being over 96k bit rate, etc.)

If the answer has been posted somewhere on here, please let me know. I feel I've done a fairly thourough search on here but unfortunately have not found any solutions yet.

Thanks,

-Mike

Had the same issue arise after ios update. Had to reset my phone so did a back up to iTunes. It transferred music from the phone I had obtained from Family Sharing. After that Match it kept getting error 4010. Once I removed the Family Sharing files Match worked fine. 10 files out of 5600+ screwed up the whole thing. Haven't figured out how to get back those files though!!!

Thanks - I tried it and it solved the problem for me too.

My wife and I have the same music tastes, and we both have iPods, iPads and iPhones. For years we were syncing all of these to just my Apple account. However, it did cause some conflicts when more ID-specific features started arriving, such as FaceTime, Home Sharing, text messages from iPhone showing up on iPad, etc. So when Family Sharing arrived some months ago, my wife got an Apple ID also, and we figured we could use the new features more effectively, while sharing each others' music purchases.

Problem is that now, although we can see each others' purchases, there are two distinct lists of music - hers and mine. And it's several taps to get from one cloud library to the other, so you can't just shuffle-play all of our combined music anymore. So I figured I'd download her newly purchased music into the library on our Mac (in with all of our years of previous purchases under my account), and it 'should' just download onto all our iDevices from there. But it didn't. Not only am I seeing different partial lists of music on all devices, it also killed iTunes Match.

Thankfully, Michael's fix has solved the iTunes Match problem for me. Now I just need to figure out how to make the two libraries work more seamlessly together, for playing on our iPods, iPads and iPhones.

Once iTunes Match is working again, you should be able to use the feature in iTunes that lets you browse your other family members' purchases. (To access it, there should be a drop-down menu with your username on the right of the iTunes song info area at the top of the iTunes window. If you click your name there, you should see an option to view Family Purchases. This will take you to a special view that shows family purchases, but it shows your own by default. From there, you will need to change the username again, but in a different place. This time it's over on the left, by the big word "Purchased". Click whichever family member's account you want to see.) You can change the view for any type of media to "Not in my library" (see tab at top center), to easily see what you don't have. Any media you download this way should be shareable between your devices. At least, it works for me.

Ok, thanks, was able to do all that, but I could not seem to download them onto my wife's iPhone; they would just sit there as "waiting", but couldn't tap to download or anything. I ended up getting iTunes Match for my wife also (so, now we're at $54 per year between the two of us), and that seemed to have solved the problem. Weird thing was that after that, even though I got a message saying all the music on the iPhone would be replaced (which I accepted), about 400 of the 3,300 songs stayed in the cloud, and didn't download to the device. I had to manually tap on the cloud icon for each of the 400 of them to get them to download onto the phone. Anyway, they are downloading now.

I just rebooted iTunes a few moments ago, and now I'm getting a 4001 error message. Argh, will the problems never end with iTunes??? I'm starting to think they haven't fully thought out the whole ecosystem of iTunes - iCloud - Match - Family Sharing - Home Sharing - Wireless syncing, with multiple family members each with multiple devices.

Signed out of iTunes, restarted Mac, signed in, no benefit. Error 4010 will not let me sync my devices. I had music on all at one time. It disappeared and then came back on its own. Then it was deleted from all devices. I contacted support and they showed me how to get them onto one device at least. But today, alot more songs and complete albums were missing...alot more. I saw the iCloud X out on those songs, and right clicked each song to add it to iCloud, only to find out some of them still won't play.

And my son said he only buys CDs now. I thought about it, the CD costs as much as iTunes Apple. I don't like having to buy my purchases multiple times Apple. And I have paid more than once trying to keep a few of my songs! FIX THIS ISSUE APPLE, or I'm reverting to the old way of doing things.

Bless you, Michael! This worked like a charm… I knew it had to have something to do with the family sharing issue. Like you, I recently started combining music from two accounts. My wife used to manage hers separately under her own profile on our Mac, not using iTunes match. I, on the other hand, used iTunes match in my own profile. I decided to merge the iTunes library the other night. Synced her music just fine, but then started getting the error. I was ready to pull out my hair until I tried your solution. Deleted all of the recently purchased songs from her account. Then, I ran iTunes match, and it worked like a charm! I then logged into her iTunes account and re-downloaded the music I deleted. So far so good!

Although everybody else seems to have solved their problem, I haven't.

I wanted to thank you for trying, though.

I have deactivated my Family, re-downloaded all items belonging to me locally (have purchased additional storage to do so) and still this error pops up.

I could not find any way to display the 'purchasing account' in my library - and it's hard for me to distinguish my daugther's purchases and mine...

Any help on this front?

Hi!

I tried all the solutions mentioned here but not a single one worked for me either. I deinstalled iTunes from my mac, and it still wouldn't work.

My solution was: I took my parents' PC which was authorised for Match, and took its iTunes Library Genius.itdb file and put in into my corresponding folder.

And it worked!

So apparently it has something to do with corrupt Genius file.

Hope this helps anyone, cause the trouble was killing me and Apple Support never had a solution.
