Bro, you should have read the thread. It warns you of this. And it still works for the 4010, bro.

And also, my stuff didn't reset. Bad luck, bro.

Actually, Justin, I can back up what santranyc is saying from personal (pre-you) experience. If you do it during an incomplete Match procedure, it WILL restart the entire process from scratch. My girlfriend and I both did it simultaneously and then proceeded to try and outcurse each other because we both have 8000+ tracks on our laptops.

So people, if santranyc's post doesn't warn you off... don't do what JustinWhite recommends. Do. Not. Ever. Until specifically told to by Apple. Because then you can swear at them for telling you to do it.

Is anyone still getting the 4010 error? I have been getting it all evening. It's annoying. Right now iTunes Match seems like a big mess. Plus, I followed Justin's advice. Yeah. We won't go into that. I just want to stop getting the stupid error message from iTunes.

My bad people, this legitimitly fixed my 4010 error. I didn't realize so many of you would be opposed to trying something that woked to fix my 4010.

I really don't care about that at all. My main thing is that I keep getting the error. I've even tried restarting my computer and all that jazz. No dice.

Heh. Right now I'm trying to update mine because I got some new songs and I'm getting the 4010. If it truly is a server overload error, then this is precisely the worst time to be doing it because it's a weekend and all four time zones can be stressing it: it's late for EST but only 8:30PM PST.

I think I'm going to turn off iTunes Match for a few days and see if any of the wrinkles get ironed out. I have considered asking for a refund but I'll wait for now. I think it has the potential to be a good service. I just wish they would have worked all this stuff out before they released it.

As an aside, when I still had it turned on and was trying to get it to update, I had listened to an album on my iPhone. I synced my iPhone to my Mac and the play date and time showed up fine. Now that I have messed with iTunes Match, the play date for that album is 11-20 and the time is 2 a.m. What the heck? Weird. It doesn't really matter, though. Just another glitch, I guess.

I'll also say this: when iCloud came out I had trouble with it, so I haven't used it again. I don't know if the glitches have been fixed with it or not. One big thing was that it deleted my contacts. I had a backup on my Mac so it didn't matter, but still, it was annoying.

My bad, JustinWhite, I didn't think you'd get emo that we told the truth about being irritated that your "advice" destroyed hours of hard work and bandwidth consumption.

  • Joseph Guendert Level 1 Level 1 (15 points)

I had a few errors with iCloud too, but they seem to be ironed out nicely now. I couldn't get into my mail on my Mac, for instance, but could on my iPod, iPhone, and the webmail. Took a few days but everything came together nicely. I'm sure this will be the same.

since when was appologizing being emo? you people are funny

btw my tip fixed the 4010 error for me. or maybe by chance server stress went down and it worked right when i did that and finished uploading. don't be angry this didn't work for you

  • Leann O. Level 3 Level 3 (635 points)

Justin, like I said, I really don't care about that. Seriously, for me it's not that big of a deal. I just want this service to work!

  • JustinWhite Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Yeah, sorry that wasn't directed at you. You seem to understand that im not malicously trying to destroy your hard work. That was to mr. Joseph Guendert and MR CAPS LOCKS BRO ON THE OTHER PAGE who are upset.

and i am sorry for your trouble with this. match has been a mess since beta. they shouldn't have released this product, it is way to buggy as is.

  • Leann O. Level 3 Level 3 (635 points)

I agree, they shouldn't have released it.

  • Joseph Guendert Level 1 Level 1 (15 points)

It's why you don't give advice unless you can successfully replica a problem AND the solution across multiple machines. No two users have identical operating environments and in this case, your desire to be the eager helpful beaver has generated a 1-in-4 success ratio. 1-in-5 if we include my girlfriend's poor library. That's not exactly a stellar result.

  • danielhollister Level 1 Level 1 (20 points)

Oh please, the guy posted something that worked for him, with a link to a thread where that solution also helped other people. Granted, it was a different error message, but it worked for him (as well as myself, I might add).

Nobody knows anything about iTunes Match yet. It's buggy, and people are posting whatever seems to have worked for them. Some people have found things that work for them, others haven't. Until Apple says anything, anything we are trying is a shot in the dark. Calm down and don't be shocked when someone posts a suggestion that doesn't work.

Especially when clicking and reading his associated thread before actually doing it would've alerted you to both the difference in error message, as well as the reprecussions of the action. Just as general common sense, this is a good idea.

So before I depart, I will let you all know that resetting my match settings did fix my 4010 error, that shooting someone trying to help you is rarely a good idea, and that while you may be "stressing" over this because you have to "go out" tonight, I can't help but imagine that you wouldn't be particularly fun to hang out with.
