iphone 3gs activation required constantly

I am not sure what you mean exactly? Did it work before without using a SIM Card?

Try a restore back to factory settings on the phone via this method: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

If that doesn't work, contact your carrier and see if they will re-provision your account.

Worst comes to worst, talk to Apple for servicing options!

Hi, I have a similar problem....

Previously when i went out of range, to get the range back i had to restart or toggle flight mode.

Now it is not getting network and is saying that I require activation. Moreover, it is not staying ON long enough to activate using itunes. It seems that itunes is also taking infinite time to activate it.... this is so wierd!!! can someone help me out????

Is this covered in warranty???

Ya.. it tried that today but it is giving this error (1). Now it is in recovery mode.... i guess i'l have to take it to the service center...

That is my answer to alot of things. If it isnt working like it supposed to and you didnt do anything wrong than its clearly defective and should be repaired and/or replaced. Apple has a very good track record with me regards these type of issues. i hope everything works out.

My phone was working fine when I went to bed last night and I wake this morning to the blue 'activation required' message. I of course powered down thinking that perhaps it just needed to reset. Now it won't do ANYTHING. I connected to iTune but received an error message stating that iTunes cannot read it and I should restore to factory settings. Won't that erase all of my data? I haven't back up in awhile 😟 I have YET to have a good experience with these phones (this is my fourth) and I am seriously contemplating being done -- for good...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

The answer to your question if you restore your factory settings i think it just resets all the personal settings to the original like when you bought it. I dont believe it deletes everything on the phone..

also dont get map at apple for your inability to do frequent backups.

On the original iPad, there is a reset hole next to the earphone jack.

Mine just stopped working about two months ago. I reboots constantly and displays "Activation Required". It won't stay connected to the 3G service.

Also, I can't connect to it from iTunes.

I suspect it's just run it's course. I also noticed that battery won't chare up past 33 %

Still, it's very frustating. I thought the reset button was for a hard reset, but it does nothing.
