Can you install OSX on a USB hard drive and mac os 9 on the built in one?
I'm getting an iMac G4 for Christmas and want a small HDD for os9 and a big one for osx

You need to use an internal or FireWire drive. This includes partitioning the internal one.

Not excluded, there was indeed such a limited series, dunno why Apple stopped its development. Anyway, all intel macs allow dual boot, USB and firewire, and last generations add a third possibility, thunderbolt boot. ThB is, in fact, an upgraded firewire, in its turn an upgraded scsi.
Do you think NetBoot would work and if so how could I implement it and world it be bette than USB?
