After 10.5.1 I can't drag cover art to desktop

Is this part of the update or I have some kind of problem. I'm tuning my library art to display correctly in my car audio, and I need to drag the old cover to the desktop in order to check the size and weight. I could do that in 10.5.0 and I can restore it from my TM backup but I want to be sure first...

I'm having the same issue; I used to drag artwork all the time to make sure all the art for one album is uniform in size, color, etc. and other such neurotic necessities. I'm irritated that now when I try to drag it opens the fullsize in iTunes when I release the mouse button; makes cleaning them up a bit more tedious.

I hope it isn't 'part' of the update and just an unintented consequence.

No, my only problem was that I added a track to an album (corrupted so had to open in Audacity then re-save).

I normally just copy artwork from the same album to the new track but this time I couldn't.

I needed to drag my recent App upgrades back into the Library because it lost the knowledge that I'd already upgraded them..no an issue.

The main bonus was that all of the tacks that had undergone minor changes in the last few weeks such as Album Artist and Genre changes, all synched across correctly.

This was much faster than a previous soution I saw posted that involved un-synching all music and then re-synching again.

To get back to iTunes 5.0 on my G4 FlatPanel in which I had no backup because I have 2 G4 Powerbooks and I can use SuperDuper to clone using one of them. They all have 10.5.8. I had tried to follow instructions on a thread I found by Googling. The thread stated that I should take the itl file and rename it iTuneslibrary.bak then take the latest previous library's itl file and copy it to the iTunes library. I tried to do that but an error message came up saying I could not name it that way.(the .bak file)They listed a bunch of iTunes downloads. But I could not install. I also tried copying the itl file from a Powerbook to the G4 Flatpanel as well as Itunes 5.0 but an error message stated that I did not have sufficient permissions to do that. In desperation I put the FlatPanel in Target disk mode and used Super Duper to clone the G4 Powerbook to the Flatpanel. All is now OK and I have iTunes 5.0.This was a difficult and time consuming task!

I don't suppose there's a remedy where there are no 10.5.0 .itl files available? As you see, it's taken a couple of weeks to find that this is definitely a bug, rather than a local peculiarity, and my .itl files are on an external disc, not covered by Time Machine.

It seems to me that the conversion of the .itl format between the versions must be reversible in SOME way.

If there is a way I really can't figure it out. I suggest that if you have iTunes 5.0 on another drive then use Super Duper To clone it as I did. I reported this to iTunes feedback but I will never hear from them. It is a shame that we can't put multiple versions of Artwork in iTunes 5.1,I think they deliberately did this but I don't know why. I need it as I have the front cover and back cover on many of my Albums that I ripped from my CDs.

Thank you for your reply. It looks like a loser for me as I scan the back cover as well as the front cover and notes for my LPs and make .jpgs of them and put them in iTunes. I thought if 10.5.2 could hold all my artwork I would upgrade to 10.5.2 but it looks like I will stick with 10.5. The arrow in the artwork viewer always shows that I have several pieces of Artwork in10.5 and I don't want to give that feature up.Thanks again for your speedy reply.
