iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
These are the browsers i have tried logging on with:
Google Chrome - Version 19.0.1084.46
Safari – Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2)
Firefox - Version 12.0
they are all the latest version..

That should not make any difference at all. All components of a given version should be the same no matter where it started from, especially if it's totally up-to-date.

No, he doesn't appear to have the option there. Curious, but may have something to do with the update. I'd be interested to know what the default is if the choice has been removed.
OK, one suggestion for now - In the Network tab, delete the cache contents.
