Hey guys!

Apple released a software update today specifically for the iPhone 4S. But you'd never know it because it's still v5.0.1 BUT it's a new build.

So how do you get this update? iTunes won't alert you and it won't show up under Settings>General>Software Update.

To get the update, you have to back up and restore your iPhone 4S and it will automatically do it. Again, the version number is still the same (5.0.1) but this supposedly fixes the issue.

I suggest everybody do this and report back on whether or not it works!

So far it's solved the problem for me but it hasn't even been out for a full day yet so maybe I'm speaking too soon.

ah yes I see. I've upgraded to it, we will see if it keeps its signal. I see that at one point apple discussed this subtle release, yet they have sneakily moved the link.

Who though Apple would turn into the Ford of cell phones, shifty silent recalls, opting for narcissism over honesty.

I'm sure the iphone will still sell great, but is it really still from brand loyalty, or poor competition?

In my case the upgrade to latest 5.0.1. (9A406) did not help - did a full restore and still need to restart my phone 10-15 times a day 😟 Reset of network settings and all settings does not help as well.

I've 64kb SIM card from Telefonica Czech which I the other day changed for a new one (can't anywhere find a 128kb one). I tried as well if that's not network related - went today to Germany and tried to test it with different providers while roaming but still the same issue, either No service or no signal - after a restart I am always back to normal for a while.

It is very frustrating - don't understand that Apple does not try to resolve this issue properly as it is even a bigger problem as the battery one simply because you can't use this device as a phone 😟

Hi everyone! same problem here in Brazil! It really seems like no one from apple support read this!!! All of my friends that bought iPhone 4S in Brazil, USA, Europe, Australia are having the same problem.

Lost of signal in a clear area, no sim card etc...

We have tried a lot of stuff to solve the problem but... it doesn't work!!! Also we have tried 5.0.1 (9A406) and it works about 3 hours and then it happens again...

Steve we missed you!

Merry christmas for everyone!
