many of us who are loyal to apple felt that iphone 4 is a phone which can be used for atleast 2 years, now this insecure and oppurtunist move by apple has let us down completely, i feel that siri is a feature which apple could have won more loyal customers in its fold, though apple thinks otherwise they would rather call it a strategy to dispose of their iphone4 clone with SIRI as a selling point

I don't get it at all! I believe this is called progression/development so what is all the wining about?

So you go out and buy an iPhone 4S and three months later (or whatever) the iPhone 5 comes out with a face recognition system running only on the A6 chip. Is Apple letting you down because you can't run this on your iPhone 4S?

Apple makes some fantastic products, and each product that comes out is bound to be better than the previous one so how Apple has "let" you down is a mystery to me?

Your example would be correct if Siri didn't already exist for iphone 4 before the 4S came out, but this is not the case.

A more relavent version of your example would be this: Let's say you bought the 4S because it had face recognition. You used this feature regularly and were happy with it. Then later, the iphone 5 comes out with "enhanced" face recognition and, instead of Apple letting you continue with your non-enhanced version of face recognition on the 4S, they simply disabled face recognition completely on the 4S. So the feature that you used all the time and that was a factor in your deciding to buy the phone was suddently taken away from you because Apple decided you need to buy a new phone to continue to have any type of face recognition.

Not giving you the enhanced face recognition on the 4S is an understandable business practice so that customers are motivated to upgrade to the 5, but forcing you to upgrade by stripping away existing functionality you relied on is not a fair business practice. I don't think it's reasonable for customers to demand that Apple offer the enhanced (integrated) version of Siri on the 4S -- that's Apple's choice -- but it certainly isn't reasonable for Apple to take away the old non-intergrated Siri to force customers to buy a new phone.

I can see why people are upset--but you have other options. I like Dragon and Vilango---don't do as much as Siri but certainly work well for many uses. Anyway, Apple is a huge corporation and its all about the bottom line. They are not your friends, nor do they really care if a couple of people over-react to this and leave the fold. Lets be realistic here, the days of the HomeBrew Club are over.

No it really does suck that apple said f iphone 4 users so early like the 2g lol most of us like me are tied into a contract so its not as easy or cost efficiet to get a iphone 4s as well as knowing the iphone 5 is right around the corner. ive been with the iphone since 2g and ive upgraded everytime except now. i just want to use siri also on my iphone4.

I think you can. I believe if you simply leave feedback at www.apple.com/feedback, often, and millions do this, Apple must get the message that it is abandoning some loyal base with these tactics. Granted, a business can do whatever a business wants, and since so many people like ice cream, if your flavor goes missing, you'll eventually move on to another soon-to-be-favorite. But I have to sympathesize with the masses here. Lack of Siri on iPhone 4 (at a minimum) is depressing. Today they announced support of the iPad 3. Do you see me talking to a slate, or to a phone? I for one still hope they surprise us...Tim Cook is not Steve Jobs, as we've so many times learned.
