Greyed out "Sync" button...Much help needed

When I connect my iphone 4 (which is up to date and also my itunes is up to date) to the computer (Windows 7) to sync music, app, etc the "Sync" button is greyed out so I cannot sync anything whatsoever. Also, the "Apply" button is greyed out. This happened right after I upgraded to ios 5...restarted the computer and the phone...restored....reinstalled itunes itself...waited a month for a new update to come out...all the checks that needs to be checked are checked...googled tons of stuff...asked my techy friends...been there, done that, got a t-shirt, but unfortunately nothing seems to help this specific case.

I can download songs apps and stuff directly from the phone but I do not plan on buying all 300+ songs neither the 100+ apps again...but that is another option and I am aware of that.

I have considered iCloud but for many reasons I have decided not to use iCloud.

Pretty sure I wrote all the information that is necessary but if not please ask.

Any Suggestion for now is Appreciated!!

Thanks in Advance 🙂

I am having the same problem. I just installed the new update. Then the "other" category was taking up 75% of my space. Another person suggested un-syncing all my apps, music, movies, ect. from the phone so it clears it and then re-syncing everything. So I did that, but itunes will not let me click the apply button to get everything back on my phone. I am not sure why this is happening, but now I have an empty iphone. Have you had any luck?

That *****. I tried calling apple but don't have a AppleCare plan and don't want to purchase it, and since my phone is older than a year, I don't have the free support. Apple is the only company I know that you can't call and get free help with the expensive devices you bought from them.

Seems like there are a lot of problems with the new update.

Then try it vice-versa.. Take your iPhone to a friend’s wipe yours and restore one of his/her backs up and see if it works on his/her pc (if you get the sync button). If it does, then reset the iphone again connect it to your friend’s pc and set it up as new. Do you then have the sync button on your friends pc? If you do then when you get home you should get the sync button?. Now the only bummer… as your phone is now reset and “as new” you may get the sync button but after a restore you might not L

I hope that made sense as it is quite long winded. Let me know how it goes.
