There is not enough available storage to download these items.

Hi - I am also having this problem.

I have a 32gb iPad 2.

In settings I have 22.3gb available / 6.3gb used.

But when I try to add one book more to iBooks, I get the message 'you do not have enough storage, check your storage settings'

Can anyone explain this?

I just found this in another discussion.

It generally takes more space to install an app as just like a computer, they have installation files they move around. Try unsyncing your music library which should give you additional space. Once you have done that, install the app, then resync your music. I've read numerous posts where people have done that and it seems to work just fine.

If it's not an app for which you need to keep your data, you can delete the app, then go to the App Store and re-download it. Even paid apps work doing this - it remembers that you bought it. That way, you delete the space the app takes up, and that frees up enough space to download the updated version.

When the iPad was new, out of the box, it had about 14GB of free space. The other 2GB is consumed by the operating system, the installed apps, and the way that space is measured.

How much "Other" does your iPad show? You may be able to free up additional space.

What I did is this...

Once I got the message I hit Ok then I when to the app I could not get into it because it was kind of loading or stuck then I tap on it and it started downloading I dont know maybe I am lucky but it worked for the 2 apps I was stuck with which were Modern combat3 and Infinity blade2

I also deleted some photos and useless applications I had but I did not after so why dont you give it a try

another way to work around this issue is to avoid using the "update all" button. this is not very practical, but if you have several updates, the device wants the space to unpack all of these at once. try updating each app individually.

apple should consider some type of partition on the device that is strictly for app installations.

I experienced the same problem with 6 Apps that needed updated. I updated them individually and it worked. I update one after the other. Didn't have to wait for one to finish updating before I was able to initiate the update on all of the updates. Thanks

I have a problem installing modern combat 4 it claims I don't have enough storage space (1.58) gb but I have 3.2 gb available can someone explain what to do I really love the game and want to play it so please reply if you have the same problem or a solution thank you

I am still having this issue. I have 4.8GB available on iCloud, and have 3.2GB available on my iPad 4th Gen. I am still getting this message. I have also done all the updates. What is causing this issue trying to install Order & Chaos?

Hi, the Cloud will not resolve your problem, the problem is your Ipad´s memory. I don´t know what you are trying to install, but apps need more space free to be installed as it will need after installed. Try to delete some things, like pics, films to make some space free (Move it ro cloud and delete from iPad or iPhone) and after, try again to install what ever you want to intall.

This message is misleading, "There is not enough available storage to download these items. You can manage your storage in settings". First, there is no "Storage" option when I go to Settings. Second, from reading the replies can you really manage it or just view the usage?

Try detecting something you don't need and see if that gives you more space.

Did you fix the problem Retriver19? I am having the same problem :-(
