No sound coming from my iPhone 4s.

I just recently got an iPhone 4s. I am getting no sounds coming from it though. The ringer works, but all other sound is off unless the headphones are plugged in. This goes for recorded movies, music I purchased, youtube videos, the sound effects when I slide the login button. Everything is silent. I have restarted it a few times now, but to no avail. Even the sound buttons on the side do nothing; now they don't even bring up the sound volume overlay.

Any idea what might be wrong?

Thanks!

I should add another odd wrinkle. Siri works fine. When I bring it up, the volume buttons on the side adjust the volume of her voice, but after I close the program, it all goes back to silent.

Also, I don't have the mute button on, just to get that out the way now. :-)

IVE FOUND THE SOLUTION!! This has been a problem for me for a while now!!

Anyhow.... Alot of replies on here said the make sure the headphone duct was clear of any dust or obstacles; HOWEVER, i found that aswell as that, i needed to clear the charger duct. Im not sure if there was dust in there too, but i found that blowing quite hard into the charger duct solved my problem. I tried many ways i saw on here, but found that the sound kept flicking on an off everytime i attached my charger. I blew into the duct to clear it and... WOL LAHHHH!!! Problem solved! I did also update my phone which apparently fixes any bugs, so hopefully i will not have this problem again!!

HOPE THIS HELPS GUYS! Let me kno :0)

Hi Armando.ar

They have contacted me today to say the phone is ready for collection yet they still expect me to pay, i agree this is ridiculous and totally unfair. My phone was still in the plastic and had an extra plastic cover, it was treated like a baby, never near any liquid, and even if it were this is no liquid damage fault. I also checked this before the phone went in and as far as i could see the indicator was still white at the time - lots of google research, restores and switching on and off before i sent it in. I have been arguing with them via twitter and am now waiting for "higher level repairs" to contact me since friday. i will keep you all posted, please let me know what they come back to you with.

Even I am facing this problem since past 3 4 days and tried everything but no solution.

I bought the iphone 4s from US in Dec'11 but now I am based out of Moscow. There are no apple stores in Moscow but there are few in Europe like Germany, France etc. Please tell me if the apple stores in Europe would be able to repair/replace my iphone purchased from US?

I also have the same problem. I just returned from apple and they said to try a total reset- so I will lose some of my info unless I buy more storage. It seems by reading the posts that is not going to do anything anyway. This is the second time with this new 4s phone where something didn't work. I love the phone when it is working. It reminds me of a European car!

Think I posted to quickly! Managed to get the sound back bt for only like 5mins, so did a reset at home bt still no luck and so decided to take the phone into the Apple store. They said they have to do a total reset back to factory settings which can't be done from home so they did and still no sound, they couldn't fix it instead offered me a new phone for £119 since my phone is over a year old.

No sound coming from my iPhone 4s.
