ITunes keeps asking me for a password to "Sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads"

I am finding the latest version of ITunes very annoying. No matter if I de-authorise and re authorise mymachine it still keeps asking me for a password to "Sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads". How can you fix this annoying bug??

It’s really annoying that if you don’t enter a password or click cancel it will keep popping up looking for a password over ALL other programs.

Can someone tell me how can I get ITunes to remember my password and stop having to re enter it every time I load up ITunes ?

This has worked for over 200 customers @ my Apple store. This is the solution for Mac users. Im not going to go into detail of software design, the cookies in Safari do not effect this issue.

Keychain Access ----> delete itunes/appleid passwords

open itunes--------> enter correct password(first attempt) check "remember"

OSX users only

good daY!

uj: issue has been corrected and has not returned in over 2 weeks. This was not a "today" fix.

YOU MAY HAVE ANOTHER ISSUE----->USER ERROR

it doesn't work for me. sorry to pop your balloon.

to begin with, there are no itunes entries in the keychain app, only one appleid. following your proceedure does not change anything here.

maybe he/she has gone to get something to eat, this is a long discussion...

Hello. Thanks for your input.

The pop up boxes in iTunes still occurs before and after an erase an install of Lion. Keychain scenario is not a factor since I have no reference in Keychain to iTunes/AppleID or Keychain First Aid.

I spoke with AppleCare this morning. They still believe the issue is coming from resetting Safari with "Remove all website data" checked. This is true for me. When I reset safari, open iTunes, the pop up boxes come back.In my case, The Apple Engineers are right. At this time I will wait for an approved work around or fix from Apple Engineers. I still recommend reporting this pop up box to Apple. Good Luck.

Alright, so this is what I did.

1. Open itunes (enter your user name & password if prompted)

2. Open preferences and go to "Store" tab.

3. (If unchecked), enable any Automatic Downloads (I just enabled Music)

4. Also check "Always check for available downloads" & "Automatically download pre-orders"

5. Go to Devices tab and check "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically"

6. Click OK. Your downloads will automatically start downloading.

7. You do not need to wait until all songs are downloaded. You may cancel these automatic downloads anytime.

8. Open preferences again and go to "Store" tab. Uncheck all three automatic downloads.

9. Uncheck "Always check for available downloads" & uncheck "Automatically download pre-orders"

10. (This step is optional) - Go to Devices tab and choose "Prevent iPods, iPhones from syncing automatically" if you want to sync your iDevice when plugged to your computer.

11. Click OK, close iTunes and unplug your iDevice.

12. Plug your iDevice and open iTunes (if it's not opened automatically)

13. The message "Sign in for automatic downloads" should be gone.

jkrisp21's solition worked for me too, for one day. Then as usual the password prompt appeared so I typed it in and hit enter, it appeared again immeditely so I typed it again, as usual. I changed my apple ID password, reset warnings, unchecked automatic downloads, check for purchases, iCloud syncing, even retreive ablum artwork and cd track names from the internet. Nothing, and I mean absofu**inglutely nothing works!!! Why can't apple fix this crap?
