After reinstalling all software iWork '05 will not open documents. I've updated as best I can but still need a newer version, apparently. How can I find out which version/update I had before the reinstallation? I have the '05 driver but did I download version '06? I can't remember!

iWork has come a long way since 05 and 06. My guess is that if you had 06 you might have bought a serial number. Why not get the iWork 09? It is quite a difference between Pages 08 and 09 so I presume it is even more if you earlier versions.
You're quite right! Thanks. One other (nice) thing; since reinstalling everything I seem to think my screen is crisper - is this likely, or is it just my imagination?

You are quite right about upgrading iWorks. It is surprising how the years go by. Actually I've just splashed out on a new macbook (yet to arrive), plus iWork 09, and my girlfriend was going to have this one, but she doesn't use iWork, so all is well.
I've just worked out that this macbook has cost me one euro per day of its life - a very worthwhile, trouble free investment.
Re the screen; I'm not sure if the settings got changed sometime ago, but since it looks great I'm not going to spend time worrying about it.

The last two winters have been snowy. Me living in the most southern part of Sweden have loved it but the "natives" here have not liked it. This year it is much warmer, even up in the north in Kiruna they still haven't got any snow. That is very unusual.
