I have my mom's old mac book air, and I want to format it (erase all it's information) so it stays like it was when it was brand new. how can I do that please help me!

You use the reinstall drive which came with it to erase its internal drive and reinstall the OS.

Call Apple Support and order a replacement. Alternatively, you can use a retail Mac OS X 10.6 DVD if you have an optical drive and the DVD is newer than the computer, but that won't install iLife unless otherwise noted.

Once you've started up from the drive, look through the options until you find the Disk Utility. When you do, select the drive in the sidebar and erase it.

Thank you for your answers they've been very helpfull, but now I have a problem: I can't Find/download/upgrade my mac air to the snow leopard os x 10.6 I have intalled the 10.5.8 version, and i just downloaded the lates version of the os x10.6.8, but it makes me an error saying that I must have the 10.6 first in order to instal the other versions.. help me please I cant fin the 10.6.0 to my mac air..

1. Basically, no.
2. Yes, assuming the computer has at least 2GB of RAM, which all MacBook Airs do.
