Album artwork won't show up on iPad 2 w/ "Match"

As soon as I turned on iTunes Match on my iPad 2 (all latest software is on all devices) album art that was there from my sync just disappeared including both ripped CDs and music bought from iTunes. All the album artwork is indeed on my Mac in iTunes, attached to all songs, iMatch updated, etc. On the iPad, when I open the music app and tap Artists, the art is missing for about half of them now. Yet when I tap on an artist with the missing artwork, the albums by that artist are listed like they're supposed to be WITH ALBUM ARTWORK INCLUDED! But when I go back to that artist, the art is not there. This is only happening in the Artists tab. It's like they need a key photo for artwork assigned or something.

In the other tabs like Playlists and Albums, all the artwork is there. The issue is just with the Artists' tab. Anyone know what is happening?

Yep, me too only it's maybe 1 out of 30 where the album art is there when I click on the artist but is missing from the overall tab view. Downloading or playing doesn't seem to make a difference and yet as I'm scrolling through the list I've seen blanks sometimes update with the album art.

I'm having the same problem, except I dont have itunes match enabled.

I synced my ipad and unchecked all my albums to remove them. Then I re-synced with the albums selected. They went back on WITH the artwork under 'artists' but then for some reason the next time I sync, some of the artwork under 'artists' is gone leaving only a music note for the cover.

It also has nothing to do with the cloud backup as I have experienced this with both backing up to the cloud and to my mac.

strange.......

hello folks,

when i turn off the "group by artist" option, the problem was solved in parts, cause some tunes dont have the artworks correctly. (using on my iphone 4 s).

well... maybe is just a bug, but now i will check my songs without artwork and upload again (so sad...).

cya!

For me the solution was NOT selecting "Convert higher bit rate songs to..." on the Options of the front iPad page on iTunes. This isn't a problem on the iPhone, but for some reason on the iPad the conversion loses the album covers...whatever, problem solved!

I had the same problem with album/artist artwork not showing up after uploading music through iTunes match and i followed the solution from this KB article from Apple to fix the issue:

Look under the section "Some songs or albums are missing artwork".
