I would recommend that you perform a "factory default" reset on your AirPort to get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration, and then, use the AirPort Utility to configure it as required. Be sure to use the "WPA2 Personal" option for Wireless Security and use a strong password.
Also, I recommend that you change the default Base Station Administrator password from public to something that only makes sense to you.

Something like Apple Network xxxxxx, for example?
If no, please follow the instructions from Tesserax
Thank you. Hopefully I can figure this all out!
It looks like its working. The yellow light continues to flash though.......
I guess it needed an update. It also mentioned a bridge "nat" due to the internet goes through an internet telephone device (ooma). Hopefully this isnt the problem. I thought I was using sophisticated passwords.....
Hi Bob,
The name of the airporter shows fbabe6. This is why I am concerned. I went in to recomfigure again and it reverts back to that name. When I reconfigue it goes to the name I choose.
Is the name Apple Network fbabe6,or just fbabe6?
Hi Bob,
To the left there is a picture of the airporter and it says base station fbabe9. Also, during configuration it asks bridge mode or alternate. I guess because I have an ooma between cox router and the airporter....... I really appreciate your help
This information indicates that your AirPort has been reset back to factory default settings. This can sometimes happen during a power outage or other type of power loss.
If you find that the AirPort will not hold its settings, then it may be defective and you should take it to an Apple store to verify.....if you have one in your area.
Remember.....hackers do not want you to know that they are on your network, so they try to make things appear as normal as possible. They would not be changing the name of your network if they wanted to to use it or try to obtain any data from your computers.
