itunes chopping off end of songs now that i signed up for match

Signed up for itunes match with 2011 imac, latest updates of itunes and lion on mac and latest update on ipad 2.

Noticed during playback on ipad2 that LOTS of songs are cut off at the end...they end 15 - 20 seconds early, abruptly...not sure why?

Please help, thank you in response!

iPad 2, iOS 5.0.1, 2011 imac, itunes match

I absolutely agree Mike. As users, we should not have to be having to deal with this type of issue. i am not convinced that apple will be implememting a fix in the near future.

So, the caveman fix I employed may help to keep frustrated folks "tuned in" in the meantime.

Also I have not experienced any further problems in the time period since I ran the fix. All is well.

I have the same issue with any of the music that has been matched. On my computer I can download and play the songs fine. On my ipad they randomly cut off. I have tried removing them then redownloading them same thing. Even after the redownload they cut off. I played with one song for a while that was acting up and notice that even deleting the song redownloading from the cloud it still cuts out at the same exact time. Download the same song to my computer its fine..

In addition to the above and since I have not seen it mentioned yet. I have songs that are cutting off and then slice into other songs all together. For example listening to a song at 2:10 with 20 seconds remaining it cuts off then plays some other random song for the last 20 seconds. then moves on to another song all together. I cant even find any type of link between to two spliced songs.. Different artist and different order in my playlist.

Signed..stuck in front of a computer all day..with no windows..no sunshine..listening to cut off songs.. regretting my decision to upgrade to match last night on whim..

Having the same issues on iPad 2 and iPhone 4s. Songs stopping abruptly and splicing to the next song from match. All songs play fine in iTunes on my pc. Most of my library is doing it. I called support and they had no solution except to sync via a cable and it fixed the problem. However, this method defeats the purpose of iTunes match all together. I literally just bought the iPad, iPhone, and match for all it's wonders and all I have is some crappy "cloud" storage. Apple needs to fix these problems now. It was a big jump accepting apple for me in the first place and now they are solidifying the reason I never used their products before.

Add me to your list of people having this issue. It's random songs from albums that get clipped. I've setup a support case online with Apple and they don't seem to know what the problem is. The songs play fine in iTunes, but they do not on any iOS device I've tried. Extremely frustrating and makes me hate iTunes Match immensely. It's unfortunate because Apple normally gets physical products right from the start, but they have all sorts of trouble with web-based ventures. I won't be recommending Match to anyone.

Wanted to add in a plea to have this issue corrected by Apple.

In my experience, all songs play perfectly fine on iTunes on any computer I try and they also stream correctly to the Apple TV.

However, both iPhone 4's in the family consistently chop songs in the range of 1:40 in to the song. When I first attempted, I was downloading over 3G and I figured it must have not fully downloaded even though the entire circle had filled prior to me playing it (in other words, I didn't stream and download at the same time, I attempted to download first and then play). Later tried to download over my home wifi network and had the same experience with songs cutting off at around 1:40 in to the song.

Things I've tried:

  • turning off iTunes match
  • deleting entire music library on iphone - settings>general>usage>storage>music
  • closing out the iTunes app
  • restarting phone
  • turning iTunes match back on (waiting endlessly for it to finish updating)
  • and then redownlading a song -- fail

Very frustrating. Occasionally I do get a song to download in its entirety but it seems that it is a rare occurance and I can not find a pattern as my primary goal has been to download songs that have the "Matched AAC audo files" status in iTunes on the computer.

Anyway, I will be tracking along with the rest of us waiting a resolution. After searching and searching without success for people having a similiar issue, I was so grateful to find this thread!

For now, I am resolved to sync over wifi with my computer...

OK, I was having a major problem with this too. I recently migrated my music files from an old system to a new system. They were cutting off and various time intervals. The files are not corrupt. I was able to play entire songs in iMovie that didn't work in iTunes, but they were cutting off on my iPod as well.

I backed up my music files to an external drive.

I deleted my entire iTunes library on my computer, and everything else in the iTunes folder.

I deleted all iTunes related preferences in Users > Home Folder > Library > Preferences.

Then I went to iTunes > File > Add to Library and selected all of my music folders from my backup drive. This acts as a fresh import. It fixed the problem.

That being said, there are also a bunch of songs that iTunes will not allow me to play saying that my computer is not authorized, which it clearly is, as it plays the other several hundred songs that I've downloaded from iTunes. Still have to work out that issue.

Yikes! I was hoping to come here and find a solution. After I create, change keys and so forth in Sound Forge; I copy them into a playlist in Itunes and then burn to cd for my performances. Since I'm very new at this, I thought I had did something wrong when I was doing my finale recently and the last song just cut off about ten seconds. I am planning to buy my 1st Apple and had asked a guy about it when I went to price the IMAC. He thought it had something to do with me not wanting any gaps between each song. Then I was thinking, I wonder if I could record a track with just air space and maybe that would fool the software that it is actually the last song. UMMMM. Maybe call it an "End Cap". Need to do some patent applications if it works.
