itunes chopping off end of songs now that i signed up for match

Signed up for itunes match with 2011 imac, latest updates of itunes and lion on mac and latest update on ipad 2.

Noticed during playback on ipad2 that LOTS of songs are cut off at the end...they end 15 - 20 seconds early, abruptly...not sure why?

Please help, thank you in response!

iPad 2, iOS 5.0.1, 2011 imac, itunes match

Correct Mike. I paid money for a service that does not provide the functionality that it claims to.

Beyond the problem inside of iTunes, the main issue is that when I use match on any of my iOS devices I am getting songs chopped and some that completely stop in the middle.

I did back them all up on iTunes and then synced them via USB a long time ago and it did work. However, explain why I paid 25.00 for iTunes Match and still have to use iTunes to correctly sync my music.

SOLUTION: Dropped iTunes Match (lost 25 bucks in the process) and subscribed to Spotify. Now, I can sync all of the music I want with no hassle.

You have let me down on this one Apple.

Still nothing from Apple on this, huh? When it happened to me in October, tech support acted like I was crazy. It was happening before iMatch, and I thought iMatch would solve it, but still the same problem. I was hoping there was a solution other than deleting my collection and then reinstalling it from the windwos machine from which it came. That will be a pain.

I have a windows laptop running Windows 7 and Itunes 10. I started having this problem when I installed Itunes 10. I put all my music on an external hard drive. Then I uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled the older version and updated back to 10. Plugged my Ipod in and restored it to factory settings. Then I reimported all my music. Lastly, synced with the restored Ipod. No longer having problems with the songs cutting off.

Possible Fix. I have had the same issue - a song stops 10-30 seconds from the end. My solution has been to go to the music file, right click and copy it, and then, add the extension .m4a at the end of file name. So for example, if the file was dreamworld, I'd copy that, and rename it as dreamworld.m4a. I then click on the song to play it. This seems to work. I then have 2 versions of the song, so at this stage I usually delete the one that wasn't working (although I'm keeping the file when prompted). I have done this quite a bit, but thankfully not all of my songs are clipped. Hope this helps.

Thanks Tod. I'll try this. I've been importing (or copying Sound Forge) .wav files into Itunes. Should I give it the extension while in Sound Forge? Ummmm, I'll test it.

I also came up with what I call "endcap". A few seconds of silence cut off other songs in Sound Forge and pasted into a newly created song. I'm using a PC now and didn't want this problem to travel to the IMAC I've been saving up for. Happy recording and thanks again.

I am with everyone else on this issue. I sit at work all day with my ipod on shuffle. Every 10th song or so is stopping about 3/4 of the way through the song. I have over 3,000 songs on my ipod and to go through each one would be ridiculous, and I am NOT deleting and starting over. Apple needs to fix this IMHO. I have been writing the songs down that stop and going into Itunes on my home computer and they are also "stunted" on there as well. Basically i have been deleting the song and redownloading it. None of them have been itunes downloads to this point. I dont use the match thing, so in my case it has nothing to do with that?? This has become very annoying to me as I am very anal about my library and take the time to make sure all the covers match up to the correct albums and I also make sure I dont have duplicates. Hopefully Apple can fix this and just make it go away!! I have dropped a small fortune with them and they should be fixing this, not posters on message boards who are trying to help! (although the help is appreciated!)

I do not know if this helps to every iPod. But it worked for me. iTunes is working fine, not chopping the songs, only my iPod Classic does. My PC is W7 64bit, iTunes 64bit. I had tried re-installing iTunes, reset the iPod from scratch. Nothing worked. Then I defragmented the iPod with the W7 built-in utility (with no iTunes running). It works. No chopped songs anymore!

I am having this issue- and been having it for the past month or so. It is driving me nuts. I can't figure out any rhyme or reason -it doesn't do it with every song or even the same song twice. I'm playing this directly from my iMac.

None of these soultions seem particularly easy and since I can't seem to make it duplicate it -I don't even know if what I've done actually works. I'm about to check the 4-minute idea.

ETA - Nope -just cut off "Rock you like a Hurricane" at 3:36

And it just played a 6 minute song all the way through

itunes chopping off end of songs now that i signed up for match
