It is a strange problem.  I had it on my music using Match and Apple TV.  I finally reset my two apple TV's and router.  Problem completely went away. We have two iPhones, iPads, and two Apple TV's.  we have been problem free for over 6 weeks.  I did no repairs in songs.  We have about 5,000 songs. ...about 90% from iTunes.

Songs cutting off before they're completed have NOTHING to do with MATCH.  I moved my library over from my PC to my new MAC about 4 months ago (and of course lost more than half my library), but now over 50% of my songs cut off early.  I JUST downloaded 10 minutes ago, about 20 christmas songs directly from iTunes to my MAC, and am listening to them on my computer, and they're cutting off early!!  ****** me off!  Who has the time to delete, re-download, etc.  It's clearly a BUG in iTunes and has nothing to do with Match, iCloud, or devices.

I don't have Match either.  I just transferred songs from my old Mac to a new one, and almost all my PROTECED AAC files cut off at the end.

I wonder if my problem went away because I uploaded/matched all of my 5,000 or so songs to Match.  Then deleted all my local copies and downloaded those I wanted to keep locally.  I upgraded bit rate to higher levels when I did it.  Now I have no cutoffs either locally playing from iPad, or iPhone or using Match through Apple TV.

Not sure if there are updates for these.  New update for my AppleTV today.  Also new iTunes.  Don't know if they will help.

All of a sudden my songs are cutting off and randomly clue whats going on...only started AFTER downloading iTunes11....FIX PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having the exact same problem (only started after downloading iTunes 11), what is going on?  Only certain songs are cut off, but they always cut off at the exact same point.  Very frustrating!

I had recently uploaded to Windows 8 which required a re-install of iTunes and then the recent update. (I do not subscribe to match)  iTunes then said it wasn't paired with any device so I connected via USB and realized that my phone was missing quite a bit of music from my library. I did a manual synch, erasing all songs on the iPhone 4. That finished completely and now this morning while driving in to work songs started to end early. Not every song. The only thing I noticed so far is that songs I recently purchased (within the last 2 months) seem to be ok while randomly songs purchased over the last 5 years as well as songs ripped from CD are having issues.I use the AAC format, is that the problem?

On a separate issue, how do you re-upload a song you know you purchased in iTunes that has just magically gone missing?

HELP I'm about ready to throw away my iPhone 4, give away my iPad and switch to something else because this is too time consuming.

I'm having the exact same issue...I purchased an iPhone5 in September and noticed that certain songs (purchased from iTunes) would just stop playing...I'm starting to lose track of how many cut off now because it happens that often...But when those particular songs are played on my 4th generation iPod, I have NO issues. I checked the original source file and even that cuts off...I do not have iTunes 11 and refuse to upgrade for fear that it would cause even more this an iMatch issue? And if so, can I uninstall iMatch??? HELP!!!

This is a joke, right?  I skipped over this thread so many times, now, guess what?  That's right, I am affected by this.  Checked music I ripped myself, seems no issues.  (I have a lot of songs so can't check them all).  I checked songs downloaded from the iTunes stores maybe 8 or so years ago, some are cut off, some not, but it seems the oldest songs are the ones affected, make sense? Do I just need to re-download them from the store?  Songs downloaded in past few years seem fine.  I downloaded the complete U2 maybe 8 years ago, that is a lot of music, it all seems fine.  That's a big phew as it is like 500 or so songs!!

    Here's my situation:

I recently subscribed to iTunes Match, and am unsure if I had this problem prior.

I am using an iPhone 5, I am not at home right now so I am unable to test on iTunes 11.0.1 that I have installed.

I recently got a new laptop however I did not move my music files as they reside on an NAS.  The only thing I did was create a new library file locally and add the music folder on the NAS to iTunes which then associated everything to the new .itl file.

So, how do I fix what I find as bad?  Is this maybe just due to match?  Is this isolated to just iPods and iPhones?  Is this isolated to matched vs. uploaded at all?  And a strange one, don't laugh, but I purchased 10cc I'm not in love about 7 or 8 years ago from the iTunes store.  There is whispering at the end that used to be there, now it is gone, did they switch the version when I did match?

    I have the same problem!
Every song that i matched in the last few month is missing its end (half song, to be picky).
And this happen only on iPhone.
I tried to delete and download the song and disable/enable the iTunes Match on my iPhone, without results.
I tried to delete and download the same song on my Mac and works fine.

And this problem persists on my brother's iPhone too.

Seems to be linked to the account, not to my iPhone.

Anyone with an update on this issue?

  • kyussmondo Level 1 (0 points)

I have been having the same problem for a while. It used to pretty bad on the iPhone 5 but it doesn't seem to be happening on the iPhone 5 for me anymore. iTunes 11 on Mac is pretty bad though. Sometimes it will cut like 10 secs off the end of the song, other times it will get about 30 seconds in and then just go to the next track. It happens everytime with the same track. Yet when I go an play the same track on my iPhone it will play right the way through with no problems so the data for the file is obviously there.

What I did do when I got iTunes Match was delete all the originals and re-downloaded the iTunes Match version (higher quality iTunes Store version). I have found deleting the song from iTunes then redownloading it from iCloud usually fixes the problem but with 17,000+ (100GB+) songs in my library it is not a practical solution even if I was to have a superfast internet connection.

I will add that recently I had problems with my iPhone's iTunes Match which meant I had to redownload all my music to my iPhone and I have had no skipping problems since. So maybe redownloading everything is the only option..

This happens on my fathers iPod Classic as well and he doesn't have iTunes Match so as others have said, this is obviously not an iTunes Match issue, but the way iTunes and Music apps on iOS devices are handling the files.

Apple needs to sort this out. It has been going on since 2011 and as a result I am finding myself on Spotify more and more, which is a shame because I really like the new iTunes 11 apart from this issue, but it is a pretty big issue.
