Can someone recommend a Mini Displayport Female to HDMI cord/adapter?
I would like to get an Apple 27" to use with my PC, which has both HDMI and DVI inputs. Thanks!

No combination of cables and simple adapters will let a Mini DisplayPort display work with a computer's HDMI port.
It needs a converter, such as the Kanex XD.

(Note that it runs at half resolution (1280 X 720) with 27" displays.)

Hey, did this work for you? I've read reports that the female to female mini displayport couplers don't work.
Please clearify which Apple 27" display you want to connect. Is the the 2010 model which uses a mini-displayport. Or is it the current thunderbolt model.
If it's the TB model you're out of luck. You cannot connect a TB device to anything other that TB.
Confusing Mini DisplayPort with Thunderbolt
I generally recommend monoprice.com for cables and components. But a female mini-displayport adaptor to hdmi may be a problem to find.
Note, for DVI, if you want to use a 27" to it's full resolution you need dual-link DVI if you decide to use a DVI port. Also DVI does not pass audio.
It will be for the regular cinema display (mini displayport)
I was not able to find anything on monoprice.com that converts the mini displayport to a DVI or HDMI
As I edited my post above finding an adaptor or cable with a female mini-displayport appears to be the problem.
Csound1,
That adapter won't help me at all.
Why is a female needed?
HDMI cable out from PC to HDMI in on the adaptor, MDP male should plug into an Apple display.

Then please explain what kind of sockets are on your PC,
I'm looking to purchase a video card that has a displayport or mini displayport as this seems to be the only economical solution without getting an expensive 'converter' just to support the display.
HDMI and DVI inputs.
I need:
Apple Display (mini displayport MALE) -> HDMI or DVI (female)
edit: in other words, i need something that will take the mini displayport male on one end and plug into a dvi or hdmi on the other end. it doesnt look like they exist without getting an expensive converter box.
This is not a complete solution but, FWIW, heading in the right direction! 😀
Mini Displayport Female to Displayport Male Adapter Cable

The adaptor I posted has 1 x MDP (male) to plug into the monitor and 1 x HDMI (female) to plug the HDMI cable from the PC into.
You can not use MDP to DVI without a converter box.
Yes, that is close.. and I may end up getting one of those AND a new video card that has a regular displayport.
Csound1,
The adapter is useless from the start because you can't even plug the apple display into it..
