Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I started with a large jpg, 4.6 M. Fully enlarged in the iPhoto window the photo was in sharp focus. I cropped just the face, but the resulting photo was out of focus. I can't figure out why.

What is the pixel size of teh cropped photo? No matter how large the original photo is if you crop too small you will end up with pixelization (not a focus issue)
And it is possible that the are you are corpping to is not really in good focus and that becoms more pronounced as it becomes the only remainin gportion of the photo

The original is 3001X4501 pixels. Cropping the image in Photoshop produced a crystal-clear image, but in iPhoto the same crop was out of focus.

After cropping this time in iPhoto I hit the "Edit" button, and the cropped photo snapped into focus. Problem solved. Thanks.
