Starwalk app shows I have several updates
But when I check the App store, "all apps are up to date". Synching with MacBookPro does not help. OK, I'm dumb but what am I missing?

Nope, reset didn't help. Still showing 17 updates??? Any thoughts, anyone?
It doesn't have anything with updates. This number means you have 17 unseen pictures of the day. Go to Picture of the day from the Menu and see them.
Also you can turn these push notifications off.
Go to Notifications and choose Star Walk there, then slide check box Badge App Icon OFF.

That worked perfectly, but how did you figure it out (out of curiosity)? I don't find any instructions/help that lead me in that direction.
With any app that shows a red badge, the first thing to check is if you have Notiications turned on for that app. If you do, then check to see in what way that app can notify you, usually on the apps website, i.e. FAQ or something similar.
BTW, that was a good catch by SuccessfulGirl. 😉
I think they have it in iTunes description and manual.
