Hi there,

Thanks in advance for the input.

This is my MBP specifications:

15 Inch mid 2010

Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB

Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74) (Installed it yesterday, problem keept happening with Snow Leopard)

500 GB SATA HDD

4 GB RAM

It's been happening for quite a while, at first it was just while I was browsing the internet. Then it just happened randomly. The sreen is completely OFF, and if I'm playing music or anything with sound it starts looping, the only way to stop it id by pushing the ON/OFF button until it shuts off, and turn it ON again. When I turn it on it prompts me to file a report and it says the computer had to be shut down because of a problem. I send the report every time, but have no idea if it is a problem with software or hardware. I don't think it is overheating, it just does it randomly, and a few times right away again after restarting.

Please help? I'm afraid this would happen in the middle of my work.

Does anyone else have this problem? How do I know what the real problem is, and how do I solve it?

Thanks a bunch in advance.

Got it back yesterday. Logic board replaced. Just opened it for 10 mins since then. I'll start using it and hopefully everything should be fine. I'll keep you posted. I now got 4 months guarantee for the new logic board so if this issue appears again I have to replace it once more (hopefully not).

Never had crashes during boot though, so it's maybe a different kind of thing you are facing.

Good luck!

Hey!!

I got to pay the $116 from the cost of the hard drive, and paid $32 for the set of tools I needed to open the computer myself. After that, I restored the system and the computer kept on failing on me. Apparently is the logic board as well. I took it to the apple store again, and the 'genius' told me that was the issue, but I recently made a search and found out that for some people the repair was free of charge. I understand this is an issue with a few "15 inch, i7, MBPros" but enough for them to post a solution for it...
Here are the two threads I found:

This one is for sooooo many people with the same issue:

This one is from apple addressing the problem:

I'm going to take mine to the apple store with all these stuff printed out to show other people got this thing fixed free of charge even after the warranty ran out... I hope this will get it fixed without payin the $340 the guy at the apple store told me it would cost today...

Wish me luck !

I'm so sorry! I forgot I had posted my question here as well...

The answer to your question is YES. I got the problem fixed by apple at no charge. I took the copies of these discussions and explained everything to the apple genius at the apple bar. At first he was skeptical about the issue, and told me that they'd take it, check it out, and if it was the issue that I was talking about I'd get it replaced free of charge, if not, they'd tell me and then I'd be able to decide whether or not I wanted it fixed and I'd have to pay for the repair.

They took about four week-days to get it back to me because they had to send it to Houston to get it looked at etc, but it was quite quick and I'm a happy girl again.

Hope you get it fixed as well!!!
