I have an Optoma EP716 DLP Projector, and I am considering buying Apple TV. My setup will include a DirecTV box, ETV and the projector. How do I connect the items? The projector has VGA, USB and S-Video connections, but the ATV has none of those connections. Do I use the DirecTV box as a "bridge"?
HDMI is the only officially supported method. There is no guarantee converters will work.
Your TV will need to be capable of 720P and also be HDCP compliant for things like iTunes store and Netflix.
Thanks for the quick response. The projector will project the image onto a wall, so I don't actually have a TV "in this picture". I am trying to figure out whether ATV is an appropriate product for my intended setup. I think I can use the standard Audio and Video jacks on the projector to connect to the DirecTV box and use HDMI to connect the ATV to the DirecTV box , but I am not sure.
You can't connect the ATV to a direcTV box
As stated in the requirements you need a TV
