New purchased/added music not showing up in iTunes music library

Here's what's going on with my Mac. I've purchased some new music off iTunes and also added music not purchased directly from iTunes into my Music Library but it doesn't show up. The purchased iTunes music only shows up in the Purchased playlist automatically created when you buy new items off iTunes. If I go looking for those files in my Music Library, they are nowhere to be found. Using the Finder and looking at the iTunes directory, the files are indeed in there but for some reason they do not show up in the Library.

I also have iTunes Match. The weird thing is, it is automatically pushing out that new media to my iOS devices fine but for whatever reason, it will not display it on my Mac's iTunes Music Library. I have tried going to Store -> Update iTunes Match. It comes out saying the right amount of files synced but still doesn't show them in my Music Library.

Same problem here. PC Win7/x64. Music purchased on my iPhone shows up in my 'recently added' and 'purchased' list on my PC but not in the basic music library. Creating AAC/MP3 versions as suggested by some is a hack. This must just be another bug in iTunes to go with the already flaky iTunes match (that always crashes at step 3). My faith in Apple is becoming very thin 😟

I'm having the same issue. I buy a song/album on an iDevice, I see the songs download in my iTunes library on my Mac, but not all of the purchased songs show up in the library or on other iDevices. I've restarted iTunes Match, updated iTunes Match, but no luck. Right now, I have 2 out of the 10 songs showing in my library which were purchased as part of the album.

Hi! THIS MAY BE AN ANSWER FOR SOME !!!!

I had a similar issue where I had LAN synced my iTunes Media folder from my desktop to my Laptop, both Windows 7, using a separate program, GoodSync. All the songs that I had recently added to the desktop iTunes were present on the laptop music folder BUT were not showing in the library NOR were avaliable to sync to my iPad. I even deleted iTunes 10 and upgraded to iTunes 11, but no change.

I then added just one of the "missing" folders from within the Music folder into the library and if appeared in the Library OK. I tried it again and it did not end up with duplicates in the Library, so I then added the whole Music folder that contains all my music files, including those missing, into my library. I then had all the new, missing albums in the Library.

There is clearly an iTunes issue here. Unless I have missed something, there is no "Library update" process in iTunes. I had tried the File/Library/Organise Library, which one may have thought was the obvious process, without result.

Hope this helps.

I have a Retina 13", 10.8.2 and iTunes 11. Before the latest iTunes update I could download songs from beatport into my "downloads' folder and itunes would pick it up and put it in my 'songs' section and play it automatically. now i cant do any of that, dragging the files in does nothing. So I re-start iTunes and soemtimes if im lucky they appear.

This is the latest in a long line of issues im having with Apple products of late, it is such a shame you cannot swear on this forum.

Steve Jobs would turn in his grave. Shambles.

I'm having pretty much the same issue.

I've tried purchasing some songs lately from iTunes and they do not show up in the "Purchased" list, my music library or the "recently added" list.

I've tried turning off iTunes match and this did not make a difference. I've tried turning iTunes match back on, did not make a difference. I've tried restarting iTunes, did not make a difference.

Frustrating to say the least.
