New purchased/added music not showing up in iTunes music library

Here's what's going on with my Mac. I've purchased some new music off iTunes and also added music not purchased directly from iTunes into my Music Library but it doesn't show up. The purchased iTunes music only shows up in the Purchased playlist automatically created when you buy new items off iTunes. If I go looking for those files in my Music Library, they are nowhere to be found. Using the Finder and looking at the iTunes directory, the files are indeed in there but for some reason they do not show up in the Library.

I also have iTunes Match. The weird thing is, it is automatically pushing out that new media to my iOS devices fine but for whatever reason, it will not display it on my Mac's iTunes Music Library. I have tried going to Store -> Update iTunes Match. It comes out saying the right amount of files synced but still doesn't show them in my Music Library.

Option Key??? I never had this problem with Zune or Windows media. I have tons of albums that did not come from itunes but they will not show up in my library. I have tried directing itunes to the location of the albums and tried moving the albums to where itunes stores its downloaded music but nothing works. If I want to listen to an album that I did not purchase from itunes I have to fetch each song individually from the location. PLEASE HELP!!!

Here is a super simple fix. I just had this happen to me. Just bought two songs and they didn't appear in my Music library, but were in the iTunes folder on my iMac, as well as the Purchased playlist.

In the playlist, right click, convert to AAC format (basically making a copy).

Then go to Music, and search for it, and there are now two versions. The "Purchased" version and a "Waiting" version.

Deleted the "Waiting" versions, and the originals stayed.

I recently added an album purchased from Amazon, mp3 format. The files are in the iTunes directory, and they appear in the Recently Added playlist, but they do not appear in the Music Library. Also, if I access the Recently Added playlist and play some of the songs, they do not appear in the Recently Played playlist afterward.

I restarted iTunes. No joy. I do not use Match, and I confirmed that it is not running. I restarted the computer. No joy. I highlighted the songs in the Recently Added playlist and dragged them to the Library area, but that did nothing as well.

Out of curiosity, I went into the iTunes Music directory and counted the files: 13,001 items. My Music Library reports 1017 albums and 11,467 songs. Depending on how the file system counts, this could be just shy of 12,500 Library items instead of the 13,000+ that should be appearing. So now I wonder what else I'm missing from who knows when.

APPLE! This is one of the most basic functions of iTunes: display and play songs in the library. What gives?!?! We are not trying to employ advanced functions here. We'd like to place music that WE KNOW EXISTS ON OUR HARDDRIVES.

This has been the only thing to work for me.

-Create a new folder and name it after the band/artist you are trying to add to your itunes library.

-This will be your artist folder

-Go inside the artist folder and create a new folder. Name it after the band/artist's album you

are trying to add to your itunes library.

-This will be the band/artist's album folder.

-If your band/artist has another album you would create a new folder for that album inside that

band/artist's folder.

-Inside the album folder, drag and drop all the songs associated with that album and album art if necessary.

-When your done take your artist's folder and move it to libraries/music/itunes/itunes media/music

-Open itunes

-Inside itunes, click file (upper left hand corner) and select Add Folder to Library...

-This will bring up a window where you can navigate your way to libraries/music/itunes/itunes media/music

-Inside libraries/music/itunes/itunes media/music you should see the folder you made.

-Highlight that folder and click select folder.

That should be it

I prefer windows media but, strangely, I cant get windows media to see music purchased from itunes. Only music that I have ripped from my personal disk library. Hmmm.... I wonder why??

There are some bugs in iTunes 11 - surprise surprise. (Is anyone else irritated by most of the new interface features - namely, the search feature and the annoying amount of "hover" submenus everywhere?)

Anyway, here is how to fix your problem - should have nothing to do with iMatch or having to re-download.

Go to Purchased, highlight the song(s) that is mysteriously missing from your Music section. Right-click (or Ctrl Click) the song(s).

Select Show in Finder

Highlight the song(s) in Finder. Cmd C to copy them

Navigate to your iTunes Music folder IN FINDER, locate your Automatically Add to iTunes folder. Cmd V to paste into this folder.

Voile, you'll hear a satisfying little beep and they show up in Music.

If it did not work, try the copy and paste again - it works.

Ahhh. Thank you. Finally a solution that works for Windows users.

Right click the song in the playlist it can be found in --> Choose "Create an MP3 Version" --> Watch them all appear.

Apple needs to stop releasing all these faulty things. My iPod struggled to update to iOs 6 and now this. I was thinking about joining the loop and splurging for that iMac, but I'm having second thoughts..
