New purchased/added music not showing up in iTunes music library

Here's what's going on with my Mac. I've purchased some new music off iTunes and also added music not purchased directly from iTunes into my Music Library but it doesn't show up. The purchased iTunes music only shows up in the Purchased playlist automatically created when you buy new items off iTunes. If I go looking for those files in my Music Library, they are nowhere to be found. Using the Finder and looking at the iTunes directory, the files are indeed in there but for some reason they do not show up in the Library.

I also have iTunes Match. The weird thing is, it is automatically pushing out that new media to my iOS devices fine but for whatever reason, it will not display it on my Mac's iTunes Music Library. I have tried going to Store -> Update iTunes Match. It comes out saying the right amount of files synced but still doesn't show them in my Music Library.

Hi everyone-

I think I found a possible fix!

I was encountering the same problem as many of you. I would buy a song on my Mac from the iTunes store and it would not show up in my "Library" in iTunes. It would, however, show up in the "Purchased" section in iTunes. I tried just about everything that everyone said- restarted iTunes, restarted Mac, turned iTunes match on/off, updated iTunes match, etc. and still with no luck. Then I did this and it worked!!

I knew the songs I bought did indeed download and were in my iTunes music folder on my hard drive. So in iTunes I went to

File ---> Add to Library ---> Music ---> iTunes ---> iTunes Media ---> Music ---> Then selected all the songs I just bought that were not showing up and clicked "open".

Boom! The songs I just bought were now in my "Library" in iTunes. Better yet, songs I continued to buy after that automatically showed up in my "Library" just like good ole times! Just to be certain the songs would stick around, I closed out of iTunes are restarted it and the songs were still there.

Hope this helps!

Yeah nothing seems to work for me either. What a ridiculous bug.

I do NOT have Match turned on, never have, never will.

Had my iPod Shuffle plugged into my MBA.

Bought two albums from the iTunes store.

Downloaded the songs and verified the files were present in Finder.

Both albums automatically sync'd to the Shuffle (already had the Shuffle set to sync the Artists).

Neither album will show in the iTunes library on my MBA.

Tried every reasonable suggestion in this thread and can't get the albums to show up.

Can't believe this very simple operation is proving so difficult for Apple.

So, I have a 2011 MBA. I purchased 2 songs and have spent the last hour trying every single idea listed in this thread and nothing has worked so far. Unbelievable that there is a glitch for something this basic. The value of the time I have spent trying to get two songs to show up in my library makes these the most expensive songs I have ever purchased. *****.

Not sure if this is necessarily the problem for all, but I had purchased a song which also did not come up under artists on my iPhone, but did on songs and if I searched for it. I then realised it was under Various Artists. So I right clicked the track on itunes, get info and unchecked 'part of a compilation' and this worked. May not be the problem for everyone though

Yesterday I ordered two songs. They show up nicely both in Purchased and in the music library. Today I bought two other songs and they could not be found in the library. After some research I solved my problem by disable "show purchases in the iTunes cloud" (I have a swedish version of iTunes so I am just guessing what it would be called in English) that can be found in Edit | Preferences | Store.

After disabling that option, the little stupid cloud disappeared for Music and Movies in my library, and the missing files showed up. :-)

I don't have iTunes match and am running iTunes on Windows 8.

Good luck out there - may the cloud be with you.
