Here's what's going on with my Mac. I've purchased some new music off iTunes and also added music not purchased directly from iTunes into my Music Library but it doesn't show up. The purchased iTunes music only shows up in the Purchased playlist automatically created when you buy new items off iTunes. If I go looking for those files in my Music Library, they are nowhere to be found. Using the Finder and looking at the iTunes directory, the files are indeed in there but for some reason they do not show up in the Library.

I also have iTunes Match. The weird thing is, it is automatically pushing out that new media to my iOS devices fine but for whatever reason, it will not display it on my Mac's iTunes Music Library. I have tried going to Store -> Update iTunes Match. It comes out saying the right amount of files synced but still doesn't show them in my Music Library.

I am having the same issue.  I have recently added music not show up in the music section.  I have a smart playlist that I created a while ago call all music and the newly added items show up there.

I have this issue as well.  I just purchased an album and it shows up in my purchased playlist but not in my music library.  I do have Itunes Match turned on and I have verified that the files are in the correct directory.  I've tried to import the folder to my library, but still they don't show up.

I am also having the same issue.  I just downloaded an album from the iTunes store.  It shows in my "Purchased" playlist but it does not show in the Music Library.  The album I purchased yesterday is showing in the Library but not the purchases from today.  I verified that they were downloaded to the iTunes folder.  I sent an e-mail to support.

I just spent about 30 minutes on the phone with customer support.  I'm assuming that all of you have iTunes Match, if you do, the solution is simple.  Go into the store dropdown on the top menu bar, and click "turn off iTunes Match"  The songs should instantly appear in your library.  All you then have to do is re-add the computer to iTunes Match and everything should work again.

    Hope that helps.

I just tried doing this. Went to Store, selected Turn Off iTunes Match. Didn't show them. So I quit iTunes and relaunched. Still not showing them. Turned on iTunes Match, it scanned my files and finished. Still not showing up.

This is just a shot in the dark, but try turning off itunes match and then dragging the files from your purchased or recently added playlist into your music library and see if that works.

Also, do you have more than 25,000 songs?

The files are already in my music library (in the iTunes folder). I originally added them by doing just that, dragging them into the iTunes Music Library. I have 233 songs only.

I received a reply to the e-mail that I sent.  The support person basically just had me redownload the songs.

"My name is xxx here from the iTunes Store.  I understand  that that you can not see your purchases in your library,  I'm sure you're looking forward to resolving this issue, and I'll be happy to help you today.

I was able to post a new copy of the "Order Number Here" to your xxx account, so that you can try downloading it once again. When you are ready, please follow these steps to initiate the download:"

When I restarted iTunes, the songs automatically downloaded again and now show in my "Library".  I admit that I was a little annoyed by the following comment by the Apple rep:

"Also for future reference, because Apple does not offer protection for the loss of data from your hard disk, I always recommend that you back up your iTunes library as soon as possible and thereafter on a regular basis."

This was not an issue of me losing the songs.  I had the copies of them.  They were showing in the "Purchased" playlist and also in my iTunes music folder.  The only issue was that they did not show in the "Library".

So I ended up reinstalling iTunes and on first launch the songs still didnt show up in the Music section but that showed up in the playlist. About 30 minutes passed and they just appeared. Still not sure what the issue is.

LOL!  Because the problem was never on your end.  This new product requires buckets and buckets of patience.

I have the same issue and I noticed it for the first time today. Purchased some music a week or so ago with no issues. I signed up for iTunes match on day one. Also have way over 25,000 songs so the few dozen I added today didn't tip me over what ever threshold is associated with 25k.

Also, my playlists do not download per 'copy to play order'. so that's irritating also. Not sure I understand the backup comment since isn't that one of the things the cloud can help us with?

I recon we just cling to the wreckage until Apple tries to sort it out....

When I first read your comment I thought "that wouldn't work, everything should be in the Library already!" But I gave it a try and it worked... really weird!

Additional Info: The items that were in playlists and not in the Library had come from another source and added to iTunes via drag and drop!

    Thanks be4music!

I've been having the same issue. Music that I recently added shows up in my 'Recently Added' Folder, but doesn't show up in the rest of the library. I'm definitely above the 25,000 song mark, I've never turned on iTunes Match and I tried dragging the tracks from the playlist. That didn't work.
