How do you make footnotes that don't repeat every other page?

I'm trying to write an academic paper and whenever I insert my footnotes into the little footnote box at the bottom of the document, it will repeat those same footnotes every other page, where I need to insert a different set of footnotes. Any ideas how to fix this?

That is not the "little footnote box" it is the Footer and ofcourse it repeats on every page because that is what Footers are for.

You create footnotes by clicking where you want the footnote to refer to in the text and then go:

Menu > Insert > Footnote

The numbered Footnote will appear at the bottom of the page, end of the section or end of document, whichever you choose.
