When I plug headphones into my iPad, the sound doesn't come out of them. What do I need to do in order to use my headphones on the iPad?

When I plug headphones into my iPad, the sound doesn't come out of them. What do I need to do in order to use my headphones on the iPad?
Dumb question, but have you turned the volume up using the volume control on the upper right hand side of your iPad?
Sound is turned up all the way!
You have to really firmly push the earphones in for them to make contact. Are you sure that the earphones are pushed in all the way?
Some earphones/headsets have their own volume control on them as well. Do yours have a volume control on them?
Are you sure the headphone work in other devices?
Try this......go into Settings > Music and check if Volume Limit is off. If it is on, touch it and see if the volume is up or down.
Believe it or not...once I really shoved the headphone jack in firmly, it worked! Can't believe that it was so simple. Thanks for the advice, it's greatly appreciated.
