I have Good Reader on my iPad running 5.0.1. I know to get an app to download if it's "stuck" you delete the app and download it again. The problem is, Good Reader has a lot of files stored within it (PDFs, Word docs, etc.) and I fear if I delete the app to re-download, I'll lose all those folders and files. What should I do?
Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
Didn't work. I have two apps that won't update: GarageBand v1.1 and GoodReader for iPad v. 3.11.0. As I said, to clear the "logjam" before I'd delete the app and the re-load it but I fear, particularly with GoodReader that that will erase all files stored associated with the app.
Do a sync and copy the files from iTunes to your computer. Then, if you lose the docs, you can reload them.
